“Filing too early” is a known journalistic hazard. If you look back, the first stories after Katrina passed over New Orleans were all, “Storm not too bad! Worst scenarios didn’t occur!”
The levees broke 24h later.
A responsible news org looks for a “2nd day” story to confirm if their 1st holds up.

The article doesn't say it, but this cool solar forecasting software uses no large language models, the thing people usually think of when they hear "AI." It uses a fairly simple convolutional neural network that's readily trained on a laptop. No data centers or LLMs involved. Research paper here:

I love corner stores so much
I grew up in a car-dependent suburb, its rail connection to the city shut down the year I was born
my neighborhood was recently developed farmland, not the pre-auto downtown
now I live in the city and corner stores in 3 directions from my house!

in Toronto we aren’t allowed to build corner stores in neighbourhoods and we’re trying to change that so our mayor has to explain why corner stores are a good thing to NIMBYs like they’re children
Mayor Chow posted a video about corner stores!

OUCH I just ripped a fingernail far enough down that it bled. But we made one hell of a dent in the storage unit.

this is why it’s important to keep at least ONE of The Dog Dies books in the elementary curriculum!

Anyone who doesn’t think that means it will end up auctioned to the highest Oligarchy bidder?

i don't think they needed to give me another reason to not go to their stores but for whatever reason they did
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.
They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.
If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."
🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.

Yesterday I thanked the DC Sandwich Guy for his passionate speech reminding us that everyone has the right to live freely.
Today I want to thank the jury.
They forced the prosecution to argue that a subway sandwich was a “weapon” capable of assault.
Then they firmly told them it was ridiculous.
