Yeah I v much agree with this — and also that here on social media someone may be following you for one thing, and predisposed to listen bc they agreed with you or liked a thing you made, and are therefore more open to your other opinions and arguments, esp if you’re not a condescending prick
agree with this (hah) but also think a particular mistake the left made for a long time online, and still makes to an extent, is failing to understand that the person whose mind you may actually change is the one reading the argument you're having, not the one you're arguing with
The secret to engaging in social media debate is knowing you will never win anyone over. The best you can hope for is to have people who already agree with tell you you're awesome. You might great a dopamine thrill from the righteousness of your anger! Fine benefits, all. But you will never win.

yes. the things that would make social media safer for children are almost all just the things that would make social media non-harmful/much less harmful for *all of us*.

The under-16 social media (and VPN, and chatbot) ban is part of a broader policy problem IMV, which is that it is politically easier to talk about e.g. 'child poverty', and you can do a lot of good with that approach, but it has hard limits because ultimately you are also just talking about poverty.

I really like what this team is doing. Litigate the murder of a river by wielding rhetoric against those that benefit from watching it all burn. Gameplay has me feeling like a brilliant lawyer in a dramatic courtroom drama with the highest of stakes. I'd love to see what they can do when funded:
