GAME OF DEATH II is one of my favorites of all time (I’ve only seen it in the English dubbed version Fortune Star puts out).

When it comes to martial arts films and GAME OF DEATH’s ghoulish resurrection of Bruce Lee, it’s a funnier spoof than KENTUCKY FRIED MOVIE. Who cares if it wasn’t made as one

always voted for prez in the foregone-conclusion state of NY—after another primary where we had no say—to help ensure it remains a sure thing. For that 1/2mm of progress smaller pockets of faraway Dems could stand. With this guy I’d finally consider saying you’re on your own, this is ridiculous

thinking about the FRIDAY THE 13th laserdisc photo collages
Honestly funny the way they treated the first FRIDAY THE 13th especially. That's got to be the oldest laserdisc release Paramount (or maybe anyone) kept on pressing right up until the format died; I myself got a squeaky-clean new disc with the same shitty transfer you could see at the dawn of video

I have waited…well, eleven years for this
This year is a very special year for horror fans, because it's the first time in eleven years that three Friday the 13ths will be taking place in a single year!

That happens to be the maximum amount of Friday the 13ths that can exist in a single year, and it won't happen again until 2037.

it’s called generalmaxxing, you pretend Gavin Newsom is already the presidential nominee and then flip out at anyone acting like it’s still 2026

Don't forget—there was a series of YA FRIDAY THE 13TH books back in the '90s. Now long OOP (digitizations exist), but they're very fun and worth reading. Also: quite gruesome.
‘Camp Crystal Lake’ – Unmasking the ‘Friday the 13th’ YA Horror Novels
After sending Jason Voorhees to Hell, and before launching him into space, the Friday the 13th franchise delivered a set of fresh and exciting stories. Of course, these other tales of the slasher icon...

This is just like UBI. Every study shows it works and is more cost effective but societies‘ hatred of poor people means we‘d rather pay more to make them suffer.
Anderson Cooper: “So it's more expensive to have a chronically homeless person living on the streets than it is to actually subsidize an apartment for them?”

Answer: “Yes, we’re paying more as taxpayers to walk past that person on the street and do nothing…” #HousingFirst

forgot: WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER

saw it with this cool guy I randomly fell in with one summer between college years, he bullied our way into the Village East with some kind of press credentials and we saw one of its near-empty showings and both loved it
Have asked this before and always like the responses. What are your biggest “I saw that in the first run cinema” flexes? Couple of mine:

Transformers: The Movie (1986)
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993)
Office Space (1999)

Wow, look at that, you don't just have to roll over like a fucking coward
New York City leaders rehung the Pride flag in front of the Stonewall National Monument in a chaotic scene that included an American flag briefly being removed, a rebuke of the Trump administration’s efforts to remove the symbol from federal property.

He literally says in this clip that ICE will keep in Minnesota “quick reaction forces” — a military term — to go after “agitators.” Remember that those on the ground in MPLS have spent more than a week trying to tell everyone that Trump’s prior “deescalation” was a ruse and ICE is still operational
Homan: "Operation Metro Surge is ending. In the next week, we're going to deploy the officers here on detail back to their home stations or to other areas of the country where they're needed."

Cannot tell you how thrilled I am to have written about ten of my favorite short films from Sundance, one of which you can actually watch online right now. I cried at some, cackled at others, some were by existing favorites and others were fresh new discoveries. Long live short cinema!!!

Don't let the excitement of the ritzy feature premieres fool you – Sundance's brightest gems can be found in their excellent shorts programming.
