Cis gay Jewish atheist weirdo who stays home every Saturday night pretending he’s at a drive-in. I work in post. “Makes the Internet suck" -Seth Abramson

You know, I was expecting to dislike that more. Really hated the college one though lol

Don’t bother with the one where she goes back to college though, woof

We just got through the part where she picks up Eric Stonestreet and they have that sincere moment about him being a tentative widower in the middle of all the goofy sexual humor

The real crime is not being funny, and that’s one I just can’t accuse it of. And when its star is capable of stuff like CAN YOU EVER FORGIVE ME? the clunked-in sentimental stuff is at least well performed. Call me easy

I’m forgiving when it comes to Oops It’s Spies! movies. I love them. You have to be, like, GHOSTED before even I hate it

This one got dogged for being two-dimensional, and for clunking in sentimental stuff late to give itself an excuse for an ending in the way 2D comedies do. But of course it does
November 12, 2025 at 5:12 AM
probably like this so much because it’s part of what I call the Oops It’s Spies! comedy subgenre. Movies like this are not always about spies, but always have people in black suitjackets pointing pistols very seriously as they enter a room where Tina Fey was riffing not long ago. Table’s still warm

love the complete social irresponsibility of this movie treating throat punches like a funny way for Melissa McCarthy to get out of a jam, when in real life she’d have a body count and probably a 1st-degree charge
November 12, 2025 at 4:44 AM
The Paul Feig ones are the best for sure, zero misses with her including GHOSTBUSTERS! Guest essay!

When it comes to Feigless but similarly goofy Melissa McCarthy comedies I’ve seen most, like this, and didn’t actively dislike TAMMY fwiw

Can’t imagine trying to break the tech-equals-good-and-smart-and-the-future mindset in California. At least over here we just suspect/hate everything by default
November 12, 2025 at 4:22 AM
and you can ignore the reserved tone in the old posts because this is how it is: we find IDENTITY THIEF very funny in this house, and no one else does. I once felt ashamed of this; now it’s at guest-essay status. That was then, this is now
November 12, 2025 at 4:20 AM
But yeah I know what you mean about complacency/indifference
November 12, 2025 at 3:52 AM
Oh it’s not the restaurant that put that out? Because straight up, why expect they wouldn’t

As a protest, I approve for sure

Just plain feeling good was my favorite thing about his campaign
November 12, 2025 at 3:48 AM
because of the opinions, don’t want to sound shallow
November 12, 2025 at 3:45 AM
we’re not rushing to claim him or anything

Yes, in each of our hearts

You are right. I was outright annoyed by the plot in the end, but those segments have such a horrifying Red Dragon*-esque power you can forgive almost anything

*the book, more than anything

Charles Dance! OK, hell yeah
