People were arguing in my mentions today about whether the Earth is "round" when it's technically an irregular oblate spheroid and look "round" doesn't mean "absolutely perfect sphere" it means round. A soccer ball is round, a cantaloupe is round, a fluffy borb in winter is round, just go with it.

My favorite moon landing conspiracy is that it was faked but they hired Stanley Kubrick to direct it and he was so dedicated to make it look real he demanded that they shoot on location.

What if color harmonies were a continuum? Not fixed rules, and you could glide through them just by interpolating?

How many times do we have to go over this, the history that will repeat itself goes into the recycling bin of history, the rest goes into the dustbin.

My 2nd grader had some homework and was asked to write about her favorite activity and to include personal details

She usually does her hw quickly but she kept delaying. I asked what's going on.

She goes, "I don't want to include my personal details. What if Ms. E uses it to control how I feel?" 😅

All these "but Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft let you download your old purchases" people forget about already existing failures like OnLive or Stadia.

I'm not expecting the big 3 companies to go under but it could happen and their legacies will just be purely physical games and illegal preservation.

Vaccines DO NOT cause autism - there is extensive research showing this. Resurrecting old, discredited, fraudulent work is shameful.

Vaccine-preventable illnesses are serious - this is going to cause real harms.

This is dangerous & disappointing.

Phone app notifications are so damn presumptuous. They should all be opt-in, default off. Why do these apps just assume they can push any damn thing, at any time, into our attention? Phones have trained us that it is normal to be beholden.

New scam, folks. Be aware. Got an email from a writer akin to real ones I've gotten in the past -- hey, I like your books, I'm a writer too, looking to make connections, etc. Nothing sus. First red flag: ending with "I'd love to stay connected. Do you have a link to your latest book or author page?"

There is no ethical way to research what “causes” autism. It’s an inherently eugenicist project. The only practical application for such research is eliminating #autistic people.

It was New Year's Eve 2004, and I was at a party. My friend made a Kahlua cake, and I told her I didn't want any. She pressed me on it, and I said NO.

She asked me if I was pregnant. I was. But I'd only found out a week ago and didn't want to tell anyone yet. She took that from me. No poker face.
Just a little holiday PSA.

Be good to each other. Dad said.

Excited for a new Stargate!
So I hear Amazon has given the green light to make a new season of Stargate, and it isn't a reboot, but a new show in the existing Stargate universe. Please, don't screw up the franchise the way Kurzman did.

“Neurodiversity-affirming” must include anti-racist.
Black autistic community members report real harm in diagnostic processes, services, and peer spaces.
Your policies and culture need to reflect that reality

The first thing my character thinks is "I'm glad it's the same day it always is."
Monday #WritingQ!

Good Morning!

What is typically the first though (or three) that flits across your character's mind when they wake up on an avg day?

And if they aren't morning people, what's the first thing they ruminate over once the coffee kicks in?

I was talking about the "Do Not Do This Cool Thing" trope, and one of my kids said The Monkey's Paw was an example, and I couldn't argue against that.
