I think it would be fun to have some side-quests in my stories. I already struggle to control word-count, but having some character-developing fun can really enrich a story and expand a world.

I think I managed to keep all scenes in one peice per chapter in the mystery, walking my MC between scenes at a reasonable pace.
If I had custom dinkuses for that, it would be little artifacts, like stone tools, pot shards, etc.
In the fantasy, I would chose little gargoyles dinkuses.

Mudlarks- I love the idea of mythical forces, ancient Gods, lore passed down for generations, etc, all having an effect on the world I live in, the modern world. Fae creatures hiding in an inner-city garden plot, chthonic deities on the subway, etc 🥰 Its my favorite genre!
