Well, it finally happened. Got one of those ChatGPT-written "book consultant" scam pitches...for a completely different writer.

I've had to say, "if there was a free money hack that really worked, the person who found it would have absolutely zero reason to sell the secret of free money to you. They wouldn't NEED your money because they have the secret," a distressing number of times

The subject line of this email was like an extra little treat. Yes, I did order Rats. Can't wait to enjoy my Rats. 🤣

Thanks! Rebecca Frank did it, she's a serious gem.

Going over my "day before book release" checklist as I slowly mutate into a rabid trash panda, as one does. I'm too feral for human company at the moment, so I'm going to log off and watch some My Little Pony. No, that is not a euphemism.

Voting ends tomorrow! I'm delighted by the serious reader debate about who to kill first, because these dudes are all terribly loathsome and hard to choose from lol.
Patrons! The first chapter of Elis's new novella is live. Read at any time but if you want to help choose which awful man she's going to target, vote by Monday! www.patreon.com/posts/throw-...

I feel this in my bones. But the nice thing about failing to make an omlette is that the failure state is still yummy.

"But if what Hart is doing doesn't really work, why do you care?" Because it fucks new authors. Once readers realize that there are AI grifters swarming the shop and changing their pen names every time they get caught, EVERY brand-new name becomes suspect.
February 8, 2026 at 3:48 PM
Thank you so much, I hope you enjoy them! (And Rebecca is an absolute treasure of a cover artist.)
February 8, 2026 at 3:44 PM
Hart can't do that. She's incapable of the craft, and worse, has no interest in it. So there's no wonder she's making pennies on this shit: she can trick a person into buying her "books" once, but they DON'T COME BACK.
February 8, 2026 at 3:30 PM
My TBR pile, filled with authors I like and respect, is mountainous. Let's not even talk about my backlog of games on Steam, or my streaming list. Which authors get invited back to my nightstand? The ones who make me laugh, or cry, or quiver. The ones who make me FEEL.
February 8, 2026 at 3:30 PM
(Am I rich? Fuck no, I live in a converted hotel room. But I get by, which is more than Hart is doing, and yet the NYT decided she needed a platform.) But the key flaw to the "race" mentality is this: there is literally more media out there, right now, than any one person can consume in a lifetime.
February 8, 2026 at 3:30 PM
Smarter heads than me have done the math and figured she's making around $500 a "book." Y'all, I spend three thousand dollars between editing and cover design, and another $3k on audiobook narration. If I only made $500 a book, I'd be on the street.
February 8, 2026 at 3:30 PM
Hart believes that by flooding the store with Generic Brand X AI Product, people will be forced to buy it (the "race" that exists only in her head), when stories by the authors you enjoy are still right there on aisle 3 where they've always been. And she's not even successful at it!
February 8, 2026 at 3:30 PM
This entire thread. Courtney IS going to win. Also please let me point out how little Hart understands about publishing or writing (same for the dipshits at the NYT who gave this grifter a platform.)
I'm going to win.

You nailed it, absolutely nailed it.
February 8, 2026 at 4:21 AM
Will do, and I hope you enjoy it!

You’re not crazy. The anti-trans movement is not organic; it was funded by pedophilic billionaires like Jeffrey Epstein who backed a network of conservatives to accuse the same people they were sexually abusing of being the real danger. @madycast.com exposes the truth in our in-depth report.
