Mahmood would rather soothe the racists than do the “hard work of confronting the economic failure… and cowardice that has enabled the rise of the far right.”

As if making life even worse for immigrants will make our country happier and better off.
It won’t.

‘She is the daughter of immigrants,’ supporters of her cruel asylum policies say. ‘How can she be wrong?’ Let me put them straight, says Guardian columnist Nesrine Malik

Years ago, 2004, there were two identical Christmas movies made. Same cast, except that one featured a man married to a woman, and the other featured the same man married to another man.

In which a straight woman highlights a bunch of known anti trans activists and claims there's a divide in the queer community.

It's pure propaganda and gaslighting.

This is a classic divide and conquer strategy. Highlight and elevate contrarian views, claim there's a divide, and then relentlessly try to manufacture one so that they can roll back the rights of the entire group. This was the entire purpose of the LGB Alliance in the UK.

Not the point of this thread exactly but I would like to add to this that when the disinformation crisis started to get really nasty I got tons of support and help from trans people, many of whom had already started up incredible projects of their own. The number of TERFs and similar who helped: 0
I've never had a trans woman tell me to get back in the kitchen, or make a "joke" about how women shouldn't be allowed to vote. I've never seen trans women outside the planned parenthood calling women murderers and whores. trans women have never dogged me out for incorrectly performing femininity

Tierra Walker died because she could not get an abortion in Texas to treat her severe preeclampsia.

This is what Republicans have wrought with their anti-abortion crusade.

But let’s be clear: Abortion bans aren’t pro-life. They’re pro-control. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SN3oLwO0OEE

someone in the pet groomers group i admin asked if law really requires her to have proof of rabies vaccination for the dogs she grooms (it does) and then went on an anti-vaxx tirade. maam, rabies vaccination is the absolute least objectionable vaccine in the whole world

Rabies vaccine is like, the perfect vaccine. Is the epitome of a vaccine.

Rabies is nearly 100% fatal without vaccination, and vaccination is basically 100% effective if given BEFORE neurological symptoms show up (even after rabies exposure).

This is hell actually, "Last week, the two top officials at the National Institutes of Health—the world’s largest public funder of biomedical research—debuted a new plan to help Americans weather the next pandemic: getting everyone to eat better and exercise."
It doesn’t matter how much you exercise or how many veggies you eat when it comes to a pandemic.

These things will not stop it, and the shitbirds that Trump has installed in leading public health positions should be fired for even suggesting it would.

The death of one woman brought Polish government down.

Michelle Obama is correct.

Women are literally getting killed by the States.
And no one , nor one is out in the streets stopping it

Poland literally brought down their government because one woman died after abortion care was denied.

The losing president realised he made a huge mistake.

Why does it matter?

Describing the murder of Charlie Kirk as an "assassination" gives Kirk a status that he did not have and does not merit. It also makes this instance of death by firearm seem unique, rather than yet another murder of this type in a society that refuses to deal with the issue.

This is the kind of allyship we want from people. Words are well and good but they have to be supported by actions. This woman refused personal gain because it came at the expense of trans and non-binary people. I wish she didn't have to, but I'm glad she did.

Abolish prisons. Turn every last one into a museum in memory of the horrors of incarceration so we never make the mistake of reestablishing them. I would except razing some of them to the ground, of course, I am a reasonable person.

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Person centered therapy was a big part of my mental health recovery and one of the things that really stuck in my mind was my therapist saying it was like I was looking for the manual that had all the right answers, and explaining how it can't be that simple.

The LLM is intended to be that manual.

MeToo did not go far enough. People were saying "MeToo has gone too far" when it had barely just picked up momentum.

It was an attempt at reckoning with how institutionally misogynistic and sexually exploitative most institutions are and what women are constantly put through. So it was crushed.
This idea that #metoo was a temporary piece of insanity that happened because America was too woke...

Fuck you. It was a temporary moment in time when people decided, for the first time, that 20 women were finally equal to one man.
