If you lose power and are using a portable generator, remember to only run it outdoors at least 20 feet away from your home. Portable generators can produce deadly levels of carbon monoxide in minutes. Make sure you have a working carbon monoxide alarm on every level of your home.
In the wake of Monday's cold front, a second cold front will cross the Pacific Northwest Wednesday followed by another atmospheric river. Each of these features will bring additional periods of gusty winds, mountain snow, and heavy to excessive rainfall with renewed flooding. weather.gov

Shout-out to my home state and the Republicans who were willing to cross party lines to vote down this crap bill.
🎉 BREAKING: WE DID IT! 🎉

After days of intense pressure from D.C., the Indiana Senate REJECTED the mid-decade gerrymandered map!

This victory belongs to every Indivisible member, every activist, and every Hoosier who called, emailed, and showed up.

These kits were essential to our resistance in Chicago. I strongly recommend them to NOLA friends.
Just a quick update that the whistle fund is now focused on supporting a loose coalition of 3D print enthusiasts who are shipping whistles to any community in the US.

If you’re interested in receiving 100-1000+ free 3D printed whistles, email whistlerequests @ proton [dot] me

aside, but I always find it kind of wild how coverage of the USPS can't help but talk about it in terms of profit/loss, as if it's something other than a core public service
I suspect this (written up in a paper owned by Amazon's founder and CEO) is a hardball negotiating tactic by Amazon. My understanding is that Amazon mostly uses USPS for last-mile deliveries in remote/rural locations that Amazon can't do itself profitably.
🚨SCOOP: Amazon is preparing to sever ties with USPS and expand its shipping network as a true coast-to-coast rival.

It could cost USPS more than *$6 billion* a year in lost revenue, and lead Amazon to dominate yet another facet of the economy.

USPS posted a *$9 billion* loss in 2025.

Municipal executives routinely flout FOIA law around deadlines—Chicago’s mayor’s office has really worsened in this regard in recent years.

These are the people’s records. Sue early and often!
On Nov. 12 I filed a public records request for a recording of a town hall that Mayor Karen Bass hosted. I followed up multiple times but haven't received a response. This follows a familiar pattern of the mayor's office flat out ignoring (some) reporters and violating the CA Public Records Act.

THIS IS SUCH GOOD NEWS!!! It was something the administration destroyed that I didn’t even know was a thing, but it was TERRIBLE.
NEWS: The Institute of Museum & Library Services has restored ALL previously canceled federal grants to libraries, following a ruling by a federal judge in Rhode Island last month.

This is a massive win for libraries & communities in every state & territory!

DESECRATION
Reminder that for electoral purposes, this absolute desecration of IMO the most sacred space to our civic religion is gonna be happening just a couple of months before the midterms.
Like man, genuinely, Trump is using a temple dedicated to the man who fought to bring an end to chattel slavery as though it were a platform at a slave market, weighing men like slabs of meat before having them beat the shit out of each other in his yard for his amusement.

I one hundred percent agree with this. Tom Stoppard literally changed my life with this play, opening up a mental landscape and a vision of theatre that no one else had. I was 18 and a theatre major when I saw it, and I was weeping by the end.
May I suggest that Arcadia is the greatest play written in the English language in the last 150 years or so at least?

I think some people never really grow out of the need for peer conformity people have in junior high. There is a normal human need to ”belong”, but the desire to be in the majority and police other people to make it so, is ridiculous. THINGS CHANGE.
This is actually quite brilliant, up to and including the final sentence 🔥

Even after ”deconstructing” (in the Exvangelical sense) the American mythos I grew up with, it really is extraordinary some of the personalities that showed up in the Revolutionary period. Washington, Lafayette, Franklin, and others would all be impressive in any era.
