I feel like there was a multi-year pause, though, because they opened the archives. To me, that was A Moment. But it didn’t last long.

This timeline sucks. I lived through the end of the Cold War, and this sequel is tedious.

The post-WWII world order was really beneficial to White Americans, and frankly we had it better than probably any other era. We didn't realize it was a historical anomaly, as opposed to a norm. Black people (and many others) have always known.

Honestly, the more I look at US history, the more I am comforted, because we have had some BAD BAD times but made it out. It’s bad now, for sure, but much of it isn’t actually unique. That doesn’t mean people aren’t being hurt. They are, and we need to do better as a nation.

Just this kind of “the world as we know it has fallen apart” but also “are we the baddies?”, widespread acceptance of sexualizing young girls, drugs, serial killers, I could go on. The Great Depression had a lot of similarities. Maybe it’s an every-fifty-years thing?

From what I can tell, the era from like 1968-1980 was pretty rough, socially, politically, and financially. Assassinations, backlash to Civil Rights, Vietnam and the aftermath, Watergate, the Church Committee/MK Ultra, environmental problems, inflation, ”malaise.”

This makes sense to me lol.

Indiana is gerrymandered red but it hasn’t always been that way, and it is, in reality, a purple state. And Mike Pence is trash, but I will always give him some credit for certifying the 2020 election like he was supposed to, under scary circumstances.

That baby in that movie nearly killed me dead. 😭
