Mayor Karen Bass' office FINALLY sent me a copy of the town hall meeting the mayor hosted in Nov. to discuss the ongoing federal immigration raids. The recording includes a watermark that says: "This video cannot be modified or excerpted without authorization."

While riding my bike along the L.A. River yesterday, I noticed a suitcase stuffed with hundreds of feet of cable, a little too late. The cable ended up lassoing my pedal and getting tangled. Unfortunately I wasn't able to stop in time and I went flying over my handlebars. Luckily I'm alright!

After 30 years in prison and 25 years on Louisiana's death row, Chris Duncan walked out of Angola today a free man.

"I'm cruising down a highway," he texted me. "Most glaring emotion is shock."

Update: Mayor Bass' office finally responded to my Nov. 12 records request and acknowledged they have a recording of the town hall meeting (duh! it was clearly being recorded). They expect to send me the recording by December 18, just in time for the holidays 🙄
On Nov. 12 I filed a public records request for a recording of a town hall that Mayor Karen Bass hosted. I followed up multiple times but haven't received a response. This follows a familiar pattern of the mayor's office flat out ignoring (some) reporters and violating the CA Public Records Act.

Bass as been awful on CPRA requests. A few months ago I filed CPRAs to Bass, LADOT, and Raman over a letter that Forest Lawn stated it had sent them. Bass and LADOT: we have no record of this. CD4: here's the letter (addressed to Bass, cc-ed to LADOT GM)

It is wild that the LA jails are so dilapidated and dirty that the medical examiner bothers making note of it in autopsy reports.
