Trump wants to evict immigrant families from section 8 and public housing. Racist, cruel, and will bankrupt subsidized housing in LA.
New on Knock: Trump is coming for public housing. By banning mixed immigration status families from public housing, the regime wouldn’t only send homelessness skyrocketing; the rule change would dynamite the financial support for the entire system.

Rain will continue in steady form for at least several more hours, possibly intensifying toward the end. After, there might be partial clearing mid-PM but then the atmosphere will further destabilize, with some strong t-storms possible by late PM/early evening. [2/2] #CAwx

Selling LA's Olympics broadcast rights to ABC in 1984 was not just a financial success, but also a technological and creative triumph, from a production perspective. I loved learning about the electric vehicles that were invented by ABC to cover the road races. Look at all the spectators on bikes!

This week at Torched I wrote about how the contemporary definition of broadcast rights were effectively invented by the organizers of the 1984 Summer Olympics right here in LA — which is interesting considering how we might not get any say now in how the 2028 games are portrayed to the world
Control room
Using an NFL game to so blatantly spew propaganda sets a very chilling precedent right as the country is set to broadcast the world's biggest sporting events

L.A. housing
policies
The City of Los Angeles has 43,700 homeless people. Seven of them die on the streets every day.

Mobilizing the planning department to slow-walk new mixed income housing near the train stations that taxpayers spent billions of dollars building reflects perverse priorities at best.
After failing to stop a major state housing bill from becoming law, Los Angeles leaders are turning to plan B: Delaying Senate Bill 79's implementation and pushing for unspecified legislative changes next year. My dispatch for @politico.com Pro subscribers subscriber.politicopro.com/article/2025...

“delaying implementation”: why, when officials could build the city’s tax base by letting people build housing? And mitigate the housing shortage? And avoid flushing money down a rathole with procedural foot-dragging?

L.A. city officials would rather spend $ the city doesn’t have on …
- defense lawyers in litigation over homelessness
- settlements in suits over LAPD wrongdoing
- settlements in suits over inaccessible sidewalks, and
- dragging their feet on safe streets

… than address any of the underlying probs.
