Just sent out my aurora alert email with lots of details about tomorrow’s predicted G3 event! It costs nothing to receive these messages. I keep it simple with only what you need to know while also giving context to make things beginner-friendly.

The IRA locked in fossil fuel leasing by statute in with very detailed specificity, but left the clean energy provisions mostly at the mercy of agency interpretation and regulation… even the tax credits and loans only work if Treasury/Energy decides it qualifies.

e.g., What renewable/clean technologies qualify for a tax credit? What counts as innovative under the loan program? Who is eligible for a home energy retrofit tax credit? Do oil and gas companies need to reduce methane leakage on public lands? Is environmental justice a priority?

Note how all the fossil fuel requirements in Inflation Reduction Act were written into statute, like it literally says six lease sales in the Cook Inlet over 10 years.. and most of the renewable energy and climate implementation in the IRA relied on rule-making and agency discretion.
These lease sales are required under the Big Beautiful Bill. The last Cook Inlet sale in 2022 was mandated by the Inflation Reduction Act; that one was overturned under the national environmental policy act. Now we’ll see what happens with a weaker NEPA. www.marinelog.com/offshore/boe...

Yeah, we saw a pod like this once from super far away on a ridge in Big Sur and there were a bunch of orcas in the mix hunting them. I sent the photos and video to the killer whale project and they even suggested what family of killer whales it probably was given location.

first principles, all that trade mess starts with the Obama administration, actually Senator Ron Wyden. If they didn’t advance those trade cases, none of the rest of this has any foundation to stand on.
