'So far, Australia has forcibly sent four men to Nauru from [the "NZYQ" cohort], in exchange for more than $400m upfront and up to $70m a year. The scheme is expected to cost Australia $2.5bn over 30 years.'

my new AI powered lamp is trained on millions of lamp interactions so it understands that 50% of chain pulls are to turn it on and the other 50% are to turn it off. and honestly, it's a little spooky how it knows exactly what i want almost half of the time

This is disingenuous. The BOM briefed emergency services on the new website, including that some fire danger information should continue to be accessed via the old site.

If CFA didn't pass this to their members the failure is there.

Age restrictions on social media for over 50s.
A friend told me that her American dad got in touch to talk about some news he'd seen on Facebook: there are riots in England over DEI, and the King dramatically burst into parliament to tell Starmer off, and then Prince William did the same to Sadiq Khan. AI really is inventing bold new universes

📣THREAD: It’s surprising to me that so many people were surprised to learn that Signal runs partly on AWS (something we can do because we use encryption to make sure no one but you–not AWS, not Signal, not anyone–can access your comms).

It’s also concerning. 1/
PSA: we're aware that Signal is down for some people. This appears to be related to a major AWS outage. Stand by.
