Re. House Of Dynamite: this this and more this. Meant that the first act with Rebecca Ferguson and the missile incoming was really thrilling. But the pontificating over whether to respond in acts 2 & 3 just felt silly. Also: after 2 hours of buildup, just show me da boom!!
They keep urging the President to retaliate. But against who? They don't know who launched it. Could be Russia, China, or North Korea. Again, retaliate against who? All three of them, when probably only one of them is responsible? How is that going to help anything?

totally agree - this is a point I make repeatedly on @instituteforgovernment.org.uk #Insidebriefing podcasts. Hunt was deeply irresponsible on the NIC cuts and this overshadows all his other decisions.
I think @robertshrimsley.bsky.social is much too kind to Jeremy Hunt here. In time, Hunt will come to be reviled as second worst chancellor in modern times after Kwarteng. In 1997, faced with similar circumstances, Ken Clarke put the national interest first. Hunt salted the earth. Shame on him

This is true. Season 3 is great.
This show was, by season three, absolutely brilliant – and had everything behind it, finally. The cast had gelled, the plot was moving, the momentum was there.
