Excellent critique from @monkemma.bsky.social of

"an article that has been pulled together using reports and plans that are months or years old to make a news story that has riled up the Right, not just in the UK but across the world "

It’s depressing to see how well propaganda works😫

People on X and now out in the real world GENUINELY believe that this is all because of Muslims🤦🏼‍♀️

There hasn’t been a single case anywhere of Muslims in this country trying to ban dogs or trying to limit what anyone does with their dog

Yet…

Extremely important thread that is well worth reading. Oh, follow Emma as well because she does great research and myth-busting like this

Did you see all the “Countryside is too white”, “countryside is racist” hoo ha last week?

If you were anywhere near RW media or the hell site, you can’t have missed it!

Want to know where it all came from? Why there were over 30 “news” pieces about it in just 4 days?

Let’s take a look!👀

RW: ETHNIC MINORITIES DON'T INTEGRATE ENOUGH!

National Parks: we agree. We're trying to encourage everyone to visit the countryside more often.

RW: NO! NOT LIKE THAT! TELL THEM TO GO AND INTEGRATE SOMEWHERE ELSE! I'M WALKING HERE!

Is the British countryside really being “made less white” like we’re being told by The Telegraph? And can private medical insurance really replace the NHS?

@monkemma.bsky.social and I discuss the above and more in the fourth episode of Bear and Monk Debunk - you can listen at the link below.
Bear and Monk Debunk #3: Countryside Chaos and PMI
Is the countryside being forced into diversification, and will PMI solve all the NHS's issues? All answered in this week's episode.

@monkemma.bsky.social of Monk Debunks has found a perfect case study on how different parts of the media chose to frame the same story.

Guess which newspapers appear to be driven by racism?

The Met hired rapists because vetting collapsed. Not because of diversity. A case study in how selective framing turns a policing scandal into a culture-war narrative. - West Country Voices
I woke up recently to a Times headline: “Crime spree by Met Police officers waved through in diversity push.” As you can imagine, a headline like that got my spidey senses tingling! The article began:...

Let @monkemma.bsky.social and I join you for the ride with episode 3 of Bear and Monk Debunk.

This week we discuss whether London is a post apocalyptic hellhole and the myth of the Muslim dog ban.

In both cases, it’s mostly nonsense.

Listen below 👇
Bear and Monk Debunk #3: London and Dog Bans
Is London an irredeemable fiery tip, and are there calls for dogs to be banned? Both these topics are discussed in detail this week.

Great breakdown of one of those types of stories you see regularly.
I was asked to look at this post!

And while the story obviously has important context that’s missing from the headline - which I’ll cover obvs 😜 - what’s more important is to question why this is being posted!

And what to ask yourself when you see something like this…

Random request!

I’m giving a talk this evening on understanding the modern media landscape and some of the red flags to look out for

But it is to an apolitical audience and obviously most of my misleading headline examples are RW newspapers!

Does anyone have a good example of a LW dodgy headline?
