the obsession with "retirement" as some sort of natural end state to a life of productive work is ridiculous, another symptom of millennial entitlement skewing public opinion. instead, consider taking "microretirements" throughout your career, perhaps between 12am-6am

Worth repeating a million times.
„A people deprived of the capacity to tell the difference between truth and falsehood loses their ability to distinguish between right and wrong“ (Hannah Arndt)
Remember in 2006, when Stephen Colbert said at a White House Correspondents Dinner, “Reality has a well-known liberal bias”?

The salience of the line lingers for a reason.

“Delete your old emails to save water” isn’t bad because it’s individualising the climate crisis, it’s bad because it’s complete nonsense from top to bottom. It’s like saying “eat less lettuce to save water”, you can see the thought process but it’s that of a child who knows two facts

don't wish to pile on but I do think that when it comes to teens, when there's a will there's a way - I spent probably *hundreds* of hours socialising on park benches, drinking at bus stops (!), sometimes literally just sitting on the pavement, the internet is the main culprit here imo
This is not caused primarily by "screen time".

It's been caused by the mass eradication of third places for young people in basically every city over the past three decades - and a society that's hostile to the concept of teens socialising in public spaces.

I can't believe all of us annoying nostalgia millennials were right: cartoons actually used to be better before the efforts of this group dumbed everything down and made that defacto for cartoons in general. How interesting.
I hate how one little group can destroy so much
A remarkable 1987 article about “Q5”, a consultancy that, i’ve now learned, seems singularly responsible for the mass bland-izing of cartoons when i was a kid. I remember the sudden and mysterious Jeanine swap-out in The Real Ghostbusters! this explains so much.
