I simply refuse to accept that police ever have to look like this. this is just pure cosplay. it should be illegal for cops to be dressed like soldiers going to war.

"she needed money for braces"

it's really hard to overstate how fucking evil these people are
The woman whom the House Ethics Committee determined Matt Gaetz paid for sex when she was 17 years old was living in a homeless shelter, working at McDonald's, and needed the money for braces www.nytimes.com/2025/11/13/u...

Today is a good day to remember, and to say, that the #MeToo movement was right, and was righteous, and has been vindicated over and over again. There was no overreach. There was no excess. There was no they-went-too-far.

So much work remains to be done.

Feels a bit like the 19th century, when men with middle class jobs had to learn to write like a clerk, while gentlemen were expected to have unreadable handwriting.
Every office has an executive tier whose emails are like:

saw on news , , can we replce complianc dept with web 3

and a worker tier whose emails are like:

Dear Jim,
First of all, I *love* this idea! Unfortunately, I spoke with Legal and identified a few issues with this approach. For starters…
Well, it's a little clearer now why billionaires are so invested in technology that produces better written emails.

The biggest scandal in American history is and has been for a decade that tens of millions of voting-age US citizens think this is man who should be President.

Those citizens will be living among us for decades after Trump has passed from this mortal coil.
At this point we have to assume that if the Epstein files are released they will
- end the Trump Presidency
- implicate many other prominent Republicans
- destroy the careers of AG Bondi and his other defenders
This is beginning to feel like the greatest scandal in American history.
Trump has done enormous harm to the country.
He is a deeply corrupt and venal man.
He is wildly unpopular, his agenda more so. He's lost the consent of the governed.
He is old, infirm & clearly no longer mentally competent to run a nation.

It is time now to start talking about him moving on👇

this is a must-read, even if it makes you as nauseated as me

we can't function as a democracy if people granted unique powers -- Congress, SCOTUS, media -- abdicate their responsibilities

I'm shocked how the concept of duty has been erased from our social order

A Dead Cat, A Lawyer's Call And A 5-Figure Donation: How Media Fell Short On Epstein
Why did it take some of the nation's biggest news organizations so long to take seriously the accusations against the late Jeffrey Epstein? Allegations about his behavior go back more than a decade.

To recap: Jeffrey Epstein offered a NY Times reporter photos taken in Epstein's kitchen of Donald Trump and girls in bikinis *and* implored the NYT reporter to put this information in the public discourse in 2015

What did the NY Times editors know about this offer?

On a truly basic, cynical level, social and emotional learning is absolutely, positively critical to long-term success. Being excellent at math but bad at reading and relating to people makes you very _useful_ to people who are bad at math but good at manipulating people.
Even in the most cynical transactional shit, it makes a huge difference in their school careers. If l as a second grader you can’t follow rules/direction you won’t be in class enough to learn what you need to learn there and it’s only harder from there

Hard to imagine a better articulation of how fannish brain has broken Hollywood. How is Bond back after dying in the last movie? Because he’s a fictional character and we’re not done telling stories about him.

"Vote blue no matter who" rings a little hollow when the Minority Leaders of both the House and the Senate decided to jerk the party around over a fucking mayoral election. Where was the fighting united then?
The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.
