Hard to imagine a better articulation of how fannish brain has broken Hollywood. How is Bond back after dying in the last movie? Because he’s a fictional character and we’re not done telling stories about him.

Chuck Schumer's career delenda est.
It's a sign of Schumer's weakness, indeed his incompetence, as a leader that he decided to generate a huge amount of ill-will from the party's base over a totally avoidable and mostly symbolic issue as a prelude to attempting to sell them on a bitter political defeat.
Oops.

My major reaction to this entire thread is to pause, think carefully about how lucky I am, and go take my overdue painkillers for my, all things considered, mild and manageable sciatica.
My sympathies, inadequate as they are.

The next politician that figures out how to mobilize valance voters with corporate tax corruption will be the first.

It's a wildly _popular_ issue. Everybody hates big corporations. They're slightly above Ebola in popularity polling. But almost not valance voters understand the issue in the least, most don't want to understand it better, and almost none of them _vote_ based on the understanding they do have.

I'm going to be deadly honest here and say that I have no idea how to turn this into an actually election winning issue. Democrats have been trying and failing to win elections on specifically this issue for since Reagan and most haven't succeeded. The ones that did usually ended up one-termers.

I found it to have pretty serious performance problems at that time, but they've made great strides on that front, so if you've heard similar, you might be pleasantly surprised by it now.

The cinematography here is so good I thought it was a photo at first. That lighting!

One of @inkle's great insights into its Sorcery! games is that their players want to save scum and see All The Things and the game should permit, make straightforward, and to a degree even encourage this.

(yes, I lived in North Bend, WA for a decade, the ((lightly) fictionalized) setting and filming location of Twin Peaks. Yes, I did see them filming a few blocks away at one point. No, I did not get to meet David Lynch.)

My experience of living literally across-the-fence from the literal forest from Twin Peaks is that the owls would try to lure me into the forest after full dark. Not out of malice, mind, but because watching me stumble around lost until I broke my fool neck would be funny to them.
