NEW from me: CO2 emissions in China have now been flat or falling for 18 months, the first time that energy demand growth at or above historical averages doesn't drive emissions up, thanks to the clean energy boom. 🧵👇

Just now: The plaintiffs who were arguing that Utah GOP's congressional map is illegal won in court.
The judge orders one of the two maps submitted by the plaintiffs ('map 1') be used.
The ruling, if it stands, guarantees that Democrats will pick up a congressional seat in Utah next year.

I'm a SNAP recipient... for the last month I was tightening my belt, doing my best to eat cheaper and eating less so I'd have a little left over to help get me through when payments were cut. It was all for nothing. Fuck the dems who supported this.
I received this email about Democrats caving to end the shutdown from one of the SNAP recipients I spoke to:

You ever call a senator's office and ask the staffer who picks up what it's like to work for someone without a spine?

I love that the Boston cop slide never got fixed and now people just willingly go down it in tribute. It’s basically a national landmark at this point

these are awesome and i love that i can just get them on my regular grocery run. i have too much social anxiety to figure out how dispensaries work and these are tasty
Listen I agree pot should be legal but also it is objectively insane that I can buy this at the grocery store next to the lettuce.

vote in your local elections, vote in primaries, vote to fix the pile of spineless cowardice in the senate
Seattle's Mamdani is winning by an absurdly small margin over our incumbent mayor, who once pulled a gun on a pregnant woman in a parking lot.

Oh damn they really shut down the government for 40 days to pass this provision before releasing the Epstien Files.
Huh.
Huh.
read the actual bill text and this is quite literally a provision designed solely to impede civil and criminal investigations into United States Senators and their staff. www.appropriations.senate.gov/imo/media/do...

The 12 Days of Christmas “advent calendars” piss me off.
Advent marks the fourth Sunday before Christmas until, well, Christmas. Modern calendars go from Dec 1 to the 24th.
The twelve days refer to Dec 25 to Jan 6.
These are different timespans!

actually no, it's bad that 40% don't use their insurance. y'all are supposed to be getting regular checkups, and the free preventive care is free to you cuz insurance pays for it.
not using that is being cheated out of better health by your insurance.

Remember that insurance is actually a thing you hope never to use, and then read this critique.

In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.
The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.
The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.
Why?
It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.
