As a Jew, I've always worried that "Never Again" would mean "Never Again TO US," but it's wild to see someone just come right out and say that.
Sharing the video of this because it’s such a ghoulish thing to say that I’m honestly in disbelief that I even heard her properly

Turns out if you try to enshrine bipartisanship in the function of your legislature by making it nearly impossible to pass substantive new legislation without support from the other party, the actual result is you encourage the executive to bypass the legislature & act unilaterally
Heaven forbid the Republicans get rid of the filibuster…

NEW: Dems easily flipped the sheriff's office in Pennsylvania's Bucks County, a big swing county in the Philly suburbs.

So? The incumbent GOP sheriff had contracted with ICE. His Dem challenger promised to end the contract.

Now he wants other swing-state Dems to look at his victory as a lesson:

A populous, swing county replaced its GOP sheriff on Tuesday after months of controversy over his joining ICE’s 287(g) program. The Democratic winner promises he’ll end the contract.

Right, the answer isn't to abandon the party to these weasels.

The answer is to flood the party with people who will take it over and transform it.
Hey, a lot of people are talking about changing affiliation from Democratic to Independent.

Let me tell you why you shouldn’t do that in Colorado.

One of the main ways to get a primary challenge candidate on a ballot is to caucus for your party. You need to be registered as a Dem to caucus.

Dem gains in this week's elections erased the inroads Trump made with non-white, young, and low-income voters in 2024. In fact, the R-to-D shift from 24 to 25 is double Trump's gains from 20-24. Claims of a GOP political realignment have been highly exaggerated

This is it. The American electorate is ~30% people who genuinely want cruelty, ~49% people who actively oppose it, and ~21% ignorant dum-dums.

That’s not to excuse the dumbasses, but the majority of this country does not actually want this immigration policy.
Every time Trump wins we get a round of takes that this is because American are all Nazis deep down but all the evidence is that Americans are morons who think “crime” is out of control and we just need to take down all the criminals, but don’t want it done to their neighbors.
I continue to believe that the Trump *campaign* successfully convinced quite a lot of people that mass deportations did not mean mass deportations; that it meant targeted enforcement against “the bad guys.”

The problem for the Trump *administration* is that no one believes that anymore.

I’ve said this before but white guilt is useless. I don’t want people to feel guilty for things they had no part in, and guilt easily curdles into resentment. But everyone regardless should feel an obligation to correct injustice, especially if you somehow benefit. bsky.app/profile/mich...
I found this piece sad too, but mostly because it is part of a years-long effort by progressives to understand what "really" animates Trump voters.

We already know! It is racism, misogyny and misinformation. I know that sounds condescending or whatever but it's simply what all evidence suggests.

If you look at the White House demolition story and your first reaction is "no one gives a shit about this, they're worried about their bills" and not "this is the easiest proof point ever that the GOP doesn't give a shit about your bills" I'm afraid you have failed a fairly easy political IQ test

Democrats shouldn't run on policy at all. They need to tap in to popular emotions bolstered by values and then only mention policy to the extent it expands on that message.

The GOP won without even having a fucking platform! Just inchoate rage!
Some of these issues have high emotional resonance and may be worth loudly declaiming, but how many voters that are not engaged enough to be able to tell whether Trump is bad are going to know about EV tax credits. This theory of electoral politics is extremely silly for such a condescending tone!
Here with yellow checkmarks we have five examples of real things that Gavin Newsom and leading California Democrats espouse. Not a straw man.

My take is Democrats should drop these ideas, ideas that do not sound at all like economic populism to me.

the democratic party’s basic problem is it has almost no control over how its message reaches the ears of voters, especially outside of presidential election years. but rather than devote serious time, attention and cash to that problem its consultants and pundits want to fight factional battles
