It is incredible — the blind spots you develop when you’ve never, ever been poor.
Trump claims that food stamps "puts the country in jeopardy. People that are able-bodied can do a job, they leave their job because they figure they can pick this up, it's easier."

Oh that sounds fun. I’m always looking for *more opportunities to talk to insurance providers.
Trump: "I want the money to go into an account for people where they buy their own health insurance. It's so good. The insurance will be better. It'll cost less. Everybody is gonna be happy. They're gonna feel like entrepreneurs. They're actually able to go out & negotiate their own insurance"

Right, the answer isn't to abandon the party to these weasels.
The answer is to flood the party with people who will take it over and transform it.

Hey, a lot of people are talking about changing affiliation from Democratic to Independent.
Let me tell you why you shouldn’t do that in Colorado.
One of the main ways to get a primary challenge candidate on a ballot is to caucus for your party. You need to be registered as a Dem to caucus.

Some preliminary points:
Trump is unlikely to succeed in a claim for defamation against the BBC (on information available).
Even if he succeeded, damages for this alleged defamation would be no more than about £50k, probably less. Even the worst libels, now no more than about £100k.
£1bn? No way.

It doesn't actually matter if Chuck Schumer votes for this or not.
If he can't keep his caucus unified to protect healthcare for over 10 million Americans, he should resign as leader.

Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

@mattwalshjourno.bsky.social can I ask you a serious question here - the documentary clearly contained a significant editorial misjudgment. It also did not misrepresent that Trump was inciting violence - the congressional review referred him to the DOJ for prosecution for that.

I think in this case, this response is over the top. I also think it should give everyone in Britain enormous pride and faith that we still have media that is accountable to the public if it misleads people. No such thing exists in America.
