Lots of private urban parking lots shouldn't exist either if we had an appropriate tax in place. It's crazy that almost every block in Centretown has a privately owned surface lot.

With the cost of land and the housing shortage there should be a massive rush to replace them with homes!

Roughly 40,000 people are killed in traffic crashes each year, with speeding contributing to nearly a third of those fatalities.

On #WDoR2025, we remember and honor those who have lost their lives and those who have been injured, and we act to implement evidence-based solutions to end this crisis.

Overnight freezing rain meant ice on the catenary — but the O-Train was ready. We filmed an O-Train Line 1 LRV at Cyrville clearing the wire with its pantograph, throwing off visible sparks as it shaved off the ice layer. A neat look at real-world winter operations on an overhead-powered system.

Last week darling took transit home; train from Tunney to Parliament to catch bus; waited +40m for a bus that didn’t show (2pm ish); gave up to take train rest of way (skipped an errand, reason for the bus); total journey time was +2h for a 15-20m drive. Even on normal days it’s over an hour 3/

Very weird experience at Lyon yesterday. Crowds of people and THIS sign. (No alarm btw). Everyone came down the stairs, looked at the sign, looked at everyone else not panicking, not evacuating, and just ... stayed. Are we lemmings?

Agree – and there’s a fairly simple solution – tax them based on weight, safety (whether the driver can see a small child in front) and fuel efficiency. Use revenue to fund bike lanes and public transit. Win-win-win.

We need a "Donate for lottery tickets" button

OLG funds already support community centre infrastructure repair. Each ward could group buy tickets each week. A buck a week from 100 people per ward.

About the same cost.

You can’t draft a budget expecting to win the lottery. THIS council expects low income people to pay more for an essential service so that wealthy homeowners save a smidge on tax. How much are they saving on tax? Oh … less than the cost of a tank of gas. GRRRR

Drives me nuts when @mayormarksutcliffe.bsky.social claims that cutting transit makes life cheaper. No! No, it does NOT. Making low income people pay more for inadequate service to save wealthy homeowners a buck or two is not nice.

Typical of so many Ottawa City Councillors. Ignore facts that contradict their narrative.

AG: "the City is allocating an annual amount from the budget specifically to repay the debt associated with Lansdowne 2.0, representing an opportunity cost as this could be used for other City priorities."
