That was straight up the choice they made to advertise. This is the userbase they very specifically pandered to.

500 enrollees in *less than two weeks*! So many clinical trials would take months, or even years, to enroll this number of people.

This is what happens when you plan a trial that meets participants where they are, is not overly onerous, and tests something people think is worth trying.

The reason why most women my age couldn't care less if Bill Clinton goes down with the ship is that we were teens & young women when the Anita Hill and Monica Lewinsky scandals happened. It's rotten to the core. All the way down. Your "lost" era is not ours.
Seriously, what is wrong with these people?

Watching disabled people around the world mourn Alice is a reminder of the good aspect of the internet. 30 years ago, few people outside of SF would ever have known Alice existed. I never would have met her. The internet connected us all. Let’s honor Alice’s memory by using that power and community.
My social media is wall-to-wall love for the incomparable Alice Wong, and I need more words. What captures sadness and/also affection for a community that knows what's been lost?
Alice could not eat food for years.

And yet at Christmas she would bake cookies and mail them to me—such was her desire to provide care for the people she loved.

“Does it really matter when you sleep?”

That’s what my husband asked me.

He’d seen me struggle with insomnia our whole marriage, but #MECFS upped the ante.

Fractured, unrefreshing sleep night after night.

“Maybe you should stop fighting it.”

This is absolutely sickening. I couldn’t even believe what I was reading. Dancing on the graves of disabled activists because they asked you not to kill them.

Respect Alice Wong’s call here:
“When I am in public spaces and see most people unmasked either because they think the virus is a hoax, that masking is virtue signaling & a sign of weakness, aren't thinking about it, or that they simply don’t care, I feel like an expendable burden not worth saving.”

May Leslie and Alice rest in peace. Thinking of their loved ones. They each clearly meant so much to so many people 🩷 I didn’t know them well but both were super encouraging about the podcast and that meant a lot to me. We will keep fighting for the future they were fighting for

Alice Wong. i could literally teach an entire semester of philosophy of technology & disability through a lens of just her. You should all go spend time with her work. Her essays, podcasts, TV appearances, books, all of it; it is all so good.

Good night Alice. Rest in power, pending justice & peace

One way I have found to mourn someone is to set up a monthly sustaining donation to a mutual aid effort they cared about. If you can join me in honoring Alice Wong, @sfdirewolf.bsky.social with a sustaining donation today, please do. Thank you Alice, and I will not let the bastards grind me down.

Oh, man. She gave us so much. May her legacy thrive.
Our beloved Alice Wong has joined the ancestors. It was one of the great honors of my life to call Alice my friend, co-author & co-conspirator. She was a true genius, a force of nature the likes of which the world has never seen before. I love you, Alice, and am equal parts grateful and devastated

Alice Wong was such a kind, genuine, & brilliant person who gave so very much of herself not just to the disability community, but to the world we are in together.

I learned so much from her.

She was a bright light in a dark world, & she will always shine.

May her memory forever be a blessing.
The incredible, indomitable, inspirational Alice Wong has left us.

I'm so grateful to have known her on social media, and so grateful for all the words she shared with us and all the actions she encouraged us into making.

May we live up to her example.

My most woke opinion is that not only does everyone deserves a comfortable place to live, good nutritious food to eat, quality healthcare, and a good education, but that we can afford to give everyone this. I will die on this hill.

And I do mean everyone, not just the people who "deserve" it.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

My most niche/least mainstream woke opinion is that the way we handle the diapering and “potty training” of infants and toddlers ends up reinforcing ableism around the diapering and toileting needs of adults.

Diapers are not “for babies” and you don’t need to tell your kids that at any point.
