When I was on CNN's northeast desk, the first job at 6a every morning was to read the local papers. That guided some of what the massive CNN machine followed every day.
When those papers die, CNN doesn't hire new regional reporters. What you get instead is more panel shows, more punditry.

Lindsey fought like hell against Cuomo and for Mamdani and was the first person I saw clearly explain ranked choice voting during the primary. She shows up at the rallies and marches I shoot and clearly gives a damn about this city. Not my district, but I'm keeping a close eye on this one!

Quite a lot can be explained by the plain fact that our leaders and their hangers on are *enraged* that they can’t send people to prison for doing things that aren’t illegal, and they see this as a very serious problem that needs to be resolved, urgently.

Nobody wants to give a NYT diner interview to the rural northern California towns that vote for Democrats unless it's about vaccine denial or why they don't believe in having an address.
I'm so sick of lazy reporting like this. I've lived in deep red and deep blue rural N CA towns, and people along I-5 are connected to larger metros (like Redding, Chico, Sacto). They may live rural, but they're not isolated. And not all rural = red! I live in a remote tiny town and we're deep blue.

Yes to both. I'm begging all of you to please wear masks when traveling.
People were sneezing and coughing all over my flights on the way back, and we can all do better to look out for each other.

Because of the Trump admin’s antivax stance this years flu shot (which you still should get) isn’t a very good match for what’s circulating. All the more reason to also wear a mask.

Many people won’t visit or accommodate the disabled because it’s “too hard” or being around sickness “steals their joy”.
It’s the same people who will tell us to “try harder” to be well.

When I had a life threatening post operative internal bleed, an ER sent me home three times.
All three times they made it clear my “attitude” wasn’t appreciated.
That I was “wasting their time”.
On the 4th visit they threatened to have security remove me.
My then bf got loud & a doctor noticed.
