Over the weekend, JD Vance said: "In the United States of America you don't have to apologize for being white anymore.”
That’s a longtime theme of white supremacists in America, as Vance no doubt knows. In this thread, I cite similar racist rhetoric using the “apology” theme. 1/6 🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵

We're back on this again? We're back on this again. Fine.

1) Accommodations are fine and good because they create a predictable process for students who need help and for professors to understand how to accommodate their needs in a predictable way
Even by the standards of The Atlantic, this is an extraordinarily weak evidence base for an article.

Data from a tiny handful of schools that isn't measuring the variable at issue and a few thin, secondhand anecdotes.

one of the disqualifying things about this is that hegseth writes this garbage as if he’s the first person in history to have ever considered these issues
“Should we follow the Geneva Conventions?” Pete Hegseth asked in 2024.

It’s almost as if there were signs!

The world I see is different
Not one of hopelessness
We can make a difference
Can still fight all of this

Each of us a spark
Ignite the change we seek
Don't give in to doubt
Or let yourself be meek

The eyes of history
Watching you and I
Inside you is inferno
Dont be sold the lie

If Democratic voters (including centrists, liberals, progressives, and even some leftists) had stuck by Democrats in 2010 and 2014, the ACA would be a lot stronger now. If they had shown up for Dems in 2016, we wouldn't be here at all and women would still have reproductive rights. But no.

@schumer.senate.gov has never had to struggle for health insurance or for food.

As a standalone negotiation, the ACA extensions are dead on arrival. People under HIS direction went rogue and that's on Chuck. If you can't whip votes in your own caucus, you're not a leader, you're a problem.

Schumer can be removed from his Dem leadership role this week - 23 Dems (and/or independents) just have to vote to depose him

And they should, given this is his fault.
This is a lovely sentiment but Schumer isn't up for re-election until 2028 and he knows this. At which point he will be 77/78. There's no mechanism to recall a sitting senator AFAIK.
Let’s be clear: Chuck Schumer is the one ending this shutdown, no matter how the votes read.

Chuck Schumer is claiming that he’s voting no, while letting other Senators (Fetterman, Kaine, King, etc) do HIS dirty work.

He must be removed from his leadership & primaried for the sake of this country
