People need to understand- self serving, attention whore, Democratic politicians like Gavin Newsom who throw vulnerable populations under the bus in a cynical attempt at Carville style triangulation are not the solution to fascism, they are what got us here.

Why do journalists have no apparent solidarity whatsoever? This rancid POS jabs his finger in a woman reporter's face and calls her "piggy" and none of the other journalists there says a word?
When asked if there was anything "incriminating" in Epstein's emails, Trump pointed a finger in a female reporter's face and snapped. 'Quiet. Quiet, Piggy.'

This is, quite literally, the concluding chapter from years of vice signaling as politics. There is no better evidence for how putting Trump, a charlatan and moral void, at the center of our politics for a decade has resulted in the literal rotting of the soul and character this nation.

Kind of crazy that evidence is mounting that the world is run by a group of rapists, pedophiles, and men convinced of women’s inmate natural inferiority, and the pundit class is trying to convince us that the real social crisis is that men are victimized and lonely because women have too many jobs.
You just know that “Did Women Ruin the Workplace?” bit would have done NUMBERS in this little clique
Something absolutely perfect about Larry Summers riffing about the scourge of woke cancel culture being unfair to predatory men in a friendly email to his pal JEFFREY EPSTEIN.

I honestly can’t process how they see this as something new. It’s his whole deal! Always has been!

Lots of people comparing Senate Democrats to Charlie Brown trying to kick the football, but that analogy only works in a version where Lucy has told Charlie Brown she's going to pull it away, and also that afterwards she's going to have Snoopy executed in a foreign prison

This is exactly true.
Exactly. They say they don’t want to be doxxed but the whole point is we have a right to know who they are. It’s the exact opposite for protestors— they have a right to anonymity

What do you call a leader with no followers? Just a guy taking a walk.

He's not just a senator. He's the *leader*. His job isn't his personal vote. His job is to unify and lead his caucus against the regime.

This is just about setting the defaults so that ‘high value’ / high profile users and corporations don’t see people yelling at them for being shit.
The reason Bluesky is doing the "rude" post labeling based on keywords or downvotes is that for them it's an easy-to-do performative thing.

"Hey, we're doing something!"

Meanwhile actual harmful accounts (e.g. transphobes) can post their tripe freely because Jay thinks those are valuable ideas.

I hate to be overly judgmental, but I am skeptical a "time out" is gonna fix what's wrong with someone who posts things like this.
sometimes I think we need a report button for people who aren't really breaking any rules but desperately need to log off for a while. hit the "time out" button everyone

"the exact moment when not knowing became impossible." This line, used twice in the article, is also relevant to a certain Maine Senate candidate.
I wrote about Nazism in a small Michigan town, and in a large North American country; about the uses of and limits of shame; and on the importance of holding shared standards. www.the-reframe.com/the-death-of...
