One advantage of being represented by a pack of useless cowards is that if Democratic voters make them worried about future primaries they will cower in fear of that threat rather than, as they do now, to Republicans. (This isn't a solution, but it is a fact.)

We’re all trying to figure out who controls the democratic Senate caucus, because that person should resign.
I will not support the Republican bill that’s on the Senate floor because it fails to do anything of substance to fix America’s healthcare crisis.

Lol. And not in a good way.
1. We need to fight hard for a good ACA extension early in December and hold Republicans fiercely accountable if they betray everyone.

Oh FFS. The problem is that the Dems caved. The problem is not people objecting to that.
The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.

Chris Murphy says he's angry. Is he, really? There are no heroes among Senate Democrats. This was all a set-up by Schumer. Eight Democrats--either those retiring or those not up for re-election in 2026--voted to cave. But there were plenty more votes to cave if Schumer needed them. 1/
I got back to my office after the vote last night and recorded this. There's no way to sugarcoat what happened. And my fear is that Trump gets stronger, not weaker, because of this acquiescence. I'm angry - like you. But I choose to keep fighting.

Great thread by one of the smartest Congress-watchers out there ...
Some thoughts on the CR/minibus.

1 The Dems negotiating with Rs were not freelancing. They coordinated with Sen Schumer. A few were ready to give in on day one, others worked to maximize appropriations wins.

Those voting for the 'deal' are the ones furthest away from electoral consequences.

When performative big-mouths like Cory Booker or Chris Murphy tell you how opposed they were to the Eleventy Millionth Democrat Surrender™ ask them why they continue to support Chuck Schumer, whose eleventy millionth failure of leadership led to this.
Blame *all* Democratic incumbents for this surrender. Not just the ones voting for it. The others could have voted to remove Schumer long ago and install a leader capable of formulating a strategy and holding his people together. They were content to stay with a proven loser.
I will not support a deal that does nothing to make health care more affordable.

We are in a health care emergency. A simple one-year extension of these tax credits would cost less than Donald Trump’s $40 billion bailout for Argentina.

A vote for this bill is a mistake.

But Booker continues to support Chuck Schumer's fecklessness and incompetence. And so this failure is on him, and on all Senate Dems.
As I've always said, I will not support a government funding bill that continues to raise our costs, jeopardizes our health care, and hurts the people of my state.

A leader would not have lost eight colleagues tonight. This happened because you let it happen or because you’ve totally lost control of the caucus in one of the most important moments since you’ve been Democratic leader. Either way, it’s on you. You need to step down. We need someone who can lead.
Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis

For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare

We will keep fighting

If the rest don’t oust Schumer immediately, then the entire U.S. Senate sold us out. They think we’re stupid. It’s insulting.
These 8 Senators sold us out to Trump:
Hassan
King
Cortez-Masto
Shaheen
Kaine
Fetterman
Durbin
Rosen

Understand This Fact: Chuck Schumer is behind this. None of these 8 are up for reelection in 2026. Schumer asked them vote yes—they agreed. He's such a coward that he folded and won't even own it.

In a normal democracy, a total collapse of party leadership would result in an no-confidence vote and immediate snap elections to find leaders who can lead

Unless they remove Schumer, primaries for everyone in 2026:

Booker - NJ
Coons - DE
Hickenlooper - CO
Lujan - NM
Markey - MA
Merkley- OR
Ossoff - GA
Reed - RI
Warner - VA

A no vote is not enough

Last Tuesday raised the hopes of the Democratic rank-and-file that the Dems were finding a spine. And now, less than a week later, the Democratic Party made its own voters feel like fools. I don't think the party understands just how damaging this is going to be.

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

NOW CAN WE GET A DEMOCRATIC SENATOR TO SAY THIS.
Senator Schumer is no longer effective and should be replaced. If you can’t lead the fight to stop healthcare premiums from skyrocketing for Americans, what will you fight for?
November 10, 2025 at 2:45 AM
The Democrats who voted for surrender should be hounded out of office asap. But the responsibility for this disaster runs much deeper than that. Any Democrat who does not vote for new leadership to prevent this endless replay of failure does not deserve your support.
November 10, 2025 at 2:01 AM
The Democratic Party needs to be fucking decimated. The shitbirds who voted for surrender. And the shitbirds who are complaining now but have allowed Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries--two men who could lose a poker hand with a royal flush--to run the Senate and House caucuses. They *all* suck.

Agree he needs to go.

For what it’s worth, I think The best interpretation of that result would be that Schumer is getting others to carry his water for him, not that he lost control.
If Schumer votes AGAINST this but enough Ds vote FOR it that it passes, he needs to RESIGN immediately.

He will have shown himself to be absolutely ineffective as a minority leader. He has to go.

Literally resign tonight.

Democrats are just about to murder any good feeling people have coming out of last Tuesday about the usefulness of Democrats.

The level of suck in the Democratic Party is just astronomical.
