Here are the options on the table (which are not mutually exclusive):

1. House Dems bring articles of impeachment*

2. Senate Dems play constitutional hardball and obstruct everything

3. State AGs litigate (and prosecute) everything they can

4. Citizens march en mass

The important insight I got from the rabbi was, no one has to tell you to love and take care of your own kids, your sister, and your cousin, the reason every religious text talks about how you treat the stranger is, that’s what’s gonna be on the test.

"Trump appointed a road rules cast member to be in charge of airline safety and this is the result" that's all true and a one-sentence narrative that is completely damning to the ears of someone who isn't paying much attention to politics. Take the layup.

Thread. So many reasons not to reply on the courts. It’s surreal to see this party move forward on confirmation hearings or any other business as usual. The Dems’ lack of action — their feeble response to the very assault on democracy they RAN ON — is unforgivable.
This quote by Raskin highlights what I think many Democrats believe is the path forward - let the courts play whack-a-mole with the unconstitutional stuff

It is not a good long-term strategy

Dems can:

-oppose all Trump nominees until this EO is withdrawn
-deny unanimous consent to slow senate proceedings
-vote no on all cloture
-force quorum calls at every chance

It’s a constitutional crisis. There is absolutely no reason the Senate should be connecting business as usual.

Mandate? Trump is now under 50% in the popular vote with his margin ranking 44th out of 51 elections since 1824.

4 Democrats won Senate seats in states Trump carried—compared to zero in 16 and 20.

GOP poised for its smallest House majority since the U.S. had 50 states.

Maybe this is vague, so let me be clear:

Trump returning to power is itself the end of the constitutional order, one heralded by his failure to be disqualified from the ballot as required by the US Constitution, for his attempt to overthrow it by force. Everything happening after deepens the break.
The way I've been resisting this is just thinking about how the signs of a fundamental constitutional break are accumulating. Trump as president is a violation of the 14th Amendment; an (alleged) criminal as AG inverts justice; putting a Russian intelligence asset as DNI betrays US nat'l security...
Please do not normalize these radical, extremist, unqualified and highly compromised nominees. I beg you.

The Trump administration’s plans require a lot of machines, both literal and figurative. We can break some of those machines.
Hey everyone: for the next few years, I’m gonna need you to not say the obvious (“Trump won’t allow it”) when I say “we should try to do something.”

We should try to do something.

Even if you're just thinking about this in terms of crass political calculus, the way to counteract a politics of bigotry is not to offer a slightly kinder, gentler version of that bigotry.

That'd be selling your soul and getting nothing in return.
I am seeing more and more opinions bubbling up about how throwing trans people to the wolves would be a winning strategy for Democrats, and I just want to quickly say: Fuck off with that absolute dog shit.
