the problem for transphobes is that at this point nearly everyone has met or at least interacted with a trans person and figured out that they're just people trying to live their lives. this is why they want to ban trans people from existing in public at all costs

It's funny how obviously anti-worker 'you should take leave less often for the sake of the economy' is. Turns out people going on holiday and doing recreational activities is actually kinda important to large parts of our service economy aside from any issues of dignity and ethical behaviour

In my entire working life, to whatever extent it's true that it's difficult to conduct some business for months over summer, it is NEVER because of the regular workers.
It's always because of upper management types who are taking extended breaks while also being required for key sign offs etc

I might miss stuff because this isn't my area of expertise. But I do know that an estimate of 50% efficiency gains from AI is *ridiculous*. Even their lower bound of 15% is super generous.
Furthermore, the possibility of negative gains, something that happens with AI, isn't even consider.

THIS. Warner Brothers and Disney treating comics like IP generating machines has been horrifying to watch from the outside; I can only imagine the horror show from inside the house.
I think the reason why there is such a focus on the evils of "work for hire" in comics (instead of voice acting, etc.) is that you can no longer put food on the table with comics. These characters are bringing in millions while their creators cannot pay for groceries or rent.

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".
