How destroying 10,000 homes at the top of the market causes rents to balloon all the way down the income ladder should feel intuitive and yet people resist the idea that building new homes at the top of the market can lower rents for middle class people even tho its the same process in reverse

Love the slight of hand where these guys become "liberal" whenever they say something that makes the left look bad.
The H1B system is pretty messed up, but it's pretty shocking how this "liberal" meme is just straight up anti-immigrant. "Yeah we take in enough immigrants, you just want more to replace us" I mean Christ.

Watching this is quite fascinating because Musk is more-or-less correct on the merits whiel Bannon/Coulter/Loomer are correct politically (i.e., Musk is a late interloper in their movement whose goals are incompatible and whose attempts to woo the administration are transparent).
Quick update on the MAGA fight with Elon….things have escalated in the most beautiful way….Steve Bannon has entered the chat by calling Elon a toddler after Elon went on an unhinged rant….the Christmas gift that keeps on giving 🤣🍿

Musk versus Loomer fight is classic. The ruler’s scheming eunuch is involved in a power struggle with his concubine while he blissfully ignores his responsibilities in his palatial Southern estate. Been done a billion times from Byzantium to Beijing.

the main problem is the Congress itself. it can barely handle ordinary business (it has only succeeded in passing all four required appropriations four times in 50 years) and struggles to act as a meaningful restraint on other branches (see the last few impeachments).
Might just be I'm in the wrong circles, but I'm surprised there's not more discourse around the idea of weakening the presidency in general. Like, change of the guard is a lot less scary if the locus of power is the most representative body, i.e. Congress.

“Trump advisers and officials from his newfound Department of Government Efficiency have, for example, asked whether the president-elect could abolish the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp”

The obvious risk here is that the marks get mad and pressure the legislature to bail them out with public money, but federalism solves this, just make it so that registered Maryland voters can’t buy #crabcoin, only out of staters. would be a massive red flag to any actual investor, but not our guys.
The state needs to #innovate and periodically mint new #statecoins that people can speculate on. Let them get rugpulled by Delaware or something.

And that's before you get to the filtering effect, which is that the new 'luxury' housing of this generation will become the middle class housing of the next generation. One reason there's no middle class housing for this generation is that there was no housing built by the last generation.

the key thing with the recent Marc Andreesen debanking stuff is that he's mad the companies he invests in have to follow anti-money-laundering rules and many normal banks won't touch them because they don't

-Exempting planet destroying weapons from environmental impact views on the grounds that the environmental impacts are already known (they destroy planets)
-Requiring contractors to bid competitively
-Limiting community outreach to planets that will NOT be destroyed
