lol no, individual liability can’t be fixed with systemic solutions, those are specifically what the people shifting liability to individuals are trying to avoid
Reading life after cars, they describe how responsibility of the death of a pedestrian was shifted from systems to the individual. Makes me wonder, if my safety as a pedestrian is my responsibility, does that then give me the right to install bollards on my street to keep me and my family safe?

Classic “pulling the ladder up after us” behavior from that set honestly
It’s pretty wild that the most rabidly anti-immigrant administration in recent memory is comprised of a President married to an immigrant, a VP married to the daughter of immigrants, an assistant AG in charge of Civil Rights who’s an immigrant (Dhillon), & it was all funded by an immigrant (Musk).

The American electorate apparently can’t be trusted to not blow things up for the funny despite being given every opportunity to do so, and the political establishment were unable or unwilling to stop an obvious madman from flipping the table *again*. How are you supposed to negotiate with that

“The Washington” is a great typo tho

But this is kind of the view from north of the border: yeah it’s not that you elected a mad king, it’s that you elected him, have him serve a full destructive term, and then the American public and elite decided “hmm I’ll go for seconds” but now he’s crazier

What I do not think the Washington understands is that it’s not Trump in himself that’s discrediting us to the allies. Every now and then in a democracy, the people elect a turd. It’s that the Constitution gives them a Mad King Removal button and they are too cowardly and cynical to press it.

Only other product I can think of that, when used AS INTENDED, causes this kind of massive harm and death, is cigarettes.
Remember:

When Tylenol was poisoned *by an outsider* and killed people, the company recalled all their products & redesigned them.

When Intel’s Pentium had a bug so obscure it affected 1 in _9 billion_ long division calculations, they recalled their chips.

ChatGPT was made deadly *by its team*.
i don’t see how any of the benefits of chatgpt and other consumer-facing LLMs can possibly outweigh their incredible ability to induce suicides

At this point, there’s a real command in control question here, like, does the president not know what he’s ordered (and instead believes the rumors he sees on teevee/phone), or he’s just admitting to covert action without any regard for opsec and putting troops lives at risk!
Either Trump believes the US struck a Venezuelan facility on Christmas Eve because he was told that erroneously, or he's conflating different stories, or we actually did what he claims. Regardless of explanation, we need that information.
