The GOP base’s position on Hitler seems to be converging on “He should’ve deported all the evil Jews instead of killing them.” Not exactly reassuring!

All this tells me is that he got prescribed aspirin for cardiac prevention sometime before the mid 2000s - which would make sense with his age (he turned 50 in 1996). At that time, 325mg was the standard before they discovered that the 81mg baby aspirin dose was just as good.

John Mulaney's Horse in the Hospital joke remains the best explanation of the Trump administration. Trump doesn't have agency - he's just a force of nature / dumb fucking horse. It's up to everyone else to horse-proof their decisionmaking.
Crazy how much some media has normalized the idea that voters are taking a risk if they elect governors/mayors who will defy Trump. That he’ll threaten their funding, etc.

Try to imagine, say. Greg Abbott being asked if he’s worried that Biden will punish Texas over his lawsuits.

At least in the US there's been a big shift in dog culture over the past 30-40 years where it's now a lot more expected that you keep your dog on a leash in public
as I've said before, both as an immigrant and someone who's lived in a bunch of places - British dogs are, ime, noticeably badly behaved, and I would love to know why that is! (my bitchy French theory is that tons of Brits are so conflict avoidant that they can't even train their own pets lol)
I don't dislike dogs to be clear. But I really really dislike how many dog owners allow their dogs to foul the streets and to yap at people and scare kids and still expect everyone to think their precious little pooch is such a good dog 14/10 whatever

Whats the most recent year that when you hear it your brain automatically says "that's the past" instead of having to decide whether it's the past or the future? For me it's like...2010

MTV is officially ending all of its music channels.

In honor of that, what's your favorite music video?

I would settle for an "edit" button that just deletes my tweet and pulls up the compose window with a new draft of the same tweet in the same thread context.
you can't have an edit button because it breaks the data model of an append-only system and makes it harder to keep everything synced

this is also why you couldn't have one on twitter

done. If you allow for a brief break to eat a couple of blackberries, the 46 crosswords took almost exactly four hours.
I fell behind on crosswords and have 46 NYTs to catch up on before the end of the year. If I try to do them all right now will I:

A) give up less than halfway through
B) give up more than halfway through
C) finish before 7 pm
D) finish before 9 pm
E) finish before midnight

These people are such stupid freaks
When Nick Shirley arrived to "test" if he could enroll his son "Joey" in Minneapolis day cares, his viral video omitted that he showed up with an entourage of masked men acting like security, multiple vehicles including vans, cameras, and men who wouldn't identify themselves. One day care owner /

I have heard recently that Mike Pence has a new think tank. I am very glad that I will have an alternative in case I do decide no longer to follow heritage foundation suggestions for America.
starting to wonder whether the heritage foundation people have America’s best interests in mind

I’m considering no longer relying on them for policy suggestions

Just seems like so many new surprising revelations about this institution

I just don’t know

so with the clout that the EIC of CBS News has with the White House, and more than 10 days since they pulled the story, surely Stephen Miller has sat for an interview by now, right
As it happens, I have experience with high-level government demands to stop an explosive, accurate story from running, and I also have experience with 60 Minutes spiking a story I was involved in, so I have thoughts about the travesty at CBS. If you want some journalism anecdotes, here are a lot:

i really do think one genuine problem of our time is that the neo-populists essentially think any element of social complexity is a conspiracy against them by the Other

I don't think Biden ending the drone war or pulling out of Afghanistan or negotiating an end to the war in Yemen netted Democrats as single solitary vote in 2022 or 2024.

Those spam sites that make up celebrity networks are very convincing to stupid people. I’ve seen members of Congress cite the fake Elizabeth Warren net worth, when she fills out the same disclosure forms they do. They just require reading a PDF instead of asking Grok
all it really takes to understand the extent of how little rightwingers know about reality is to just talk to a rightwinger immeshed in the far right media ecosystem. they start saying things like “AOC is worth 30 million dollars” and you realize this is the average american now
