The Dodgers Must Refuse An Invitation To The White House
"Now is the time for the team to take a moral stand," writes Mathew Foresta, publisher of Better Graces and Liberations.

We abolish billionaires and empire, stop funding genocide and apartheid, abolish the prison-industrial complex, and have an actual democracy, run by the people, with free, universal healthcare. There's plenty of money for all to live a good life if we stop supporting hoarding and opression.
I'm here willing to read anything someone puts together that details how we can get from here to there

I'm all for universal healthcare. Tell me how we get there.

Indeed, the ideological pivot. This is a major reason why the LDP has ran Japanese politics since the war. So much U.S. malevolence and historical amnesia is based in anti-Communism.
I think that the need to make Japan our ally in the war against communism was a major factor. It would’ve been pretty awkward to be talking about the horrible things Japan had done in China when we were using bases in Japan to fight the proxy wars in Korea and Vietnam.

This is true, I've never heard of the modern pharmacy part, but I know the U.S. bioweapons program was built on Unit 731 data. The Soviets gave mild punishments, but all were freed by the mid 50's in a sweetheart deal, likely a similar bargain. I wish more Americans knew about this.
the worst part is most people involved unit 731 never got any consequences and japan got away with it by handing research data to the US. most of modern pharmacy and medical science is on the backs of unit 731 experimenting on chinese ppl and stealing from chinese medicine

People don't appreciate the fact that the crimes of the Japanese fascists are on par with those of the Nazis. I think people overlook this because of white supremacy, they don't see the lives of Asians as equal to those of Europeans.
I'm watching a documentary about the Japanese war crimes of WW2.

Getting educated in horrible history.

All I got for Christmas was traumatized.

Bari Weiss to the CBS News staff:

This Christmas Eve, I’m making sure to put the “ban” in “the banality of evil”
Bari Weiss just sent this Christmas Eve email to the CBS News staff about "building trust," which includes her tripling down on spiking the CECOT piece "to make sure it's comprehensive and fair."

One CBS staffer tells me: "She really has no idea how insulting she comes across."

Probably the best Christmas Eve news I've ever reported:

The VA is legally required to build homes for unhoused veterans in Los Angeles — and homeless vets nationwide might be able to sue for shelter, too.

@longlead.com has been covering this story for 4 years — and we're not stopping here!
The homeless veterans who sued the VA for access to housing in Los Angeles won their appeal against the government yesterday.

The decision was complex, but may be consequential in eliminating veteran homelessness across the country.

Appeals court upholds landmark ruling in homeless veterans lawsuit against the VA
A long-awaited ruling by the 9th Circuit reinforces an order for the VA to build thousands of housing units for vets — but with some unexpected caveats.

If you are a member of the military, you not only have the right but the obligation to disobey illegal orders.

Invading another nation unprovoked and not in self-defense is an illegal order.
America First Guy wants to start a war with Venezuela, take over Greenland, make Canada into the 51st state, continue the disastrous economic trade war with allies, and keep supporting Israel's genocide.

Well done, MAGA.
December 24, 2025 at 3:33 AM
It's not that deep folks, the fascist ruler wants to take land militarily so he can steal another country's resources.
the idea that invading venezuela would somehow be a distraction from the epstein files sort of falls apart when you realize invading venezuela may in fact be less popular than trump's handling of the epstein files.
74% of voters want Trump to get Congressional approval to invade Venezuela. Only 11% OK with him going alone. 11%!!!!!!!!

legitimately love this guy.
It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

i’ll admit, living in sf i don’t think about power outages a lot—let alone plan for them—but here are just a few things giving me big pause tonight:

1. robot cars adding to problems and/or creating new ones in already tenuous situations

see these many examples: bsky.app/profile/anic...
At least five FUBARed Waymo robots:

Market & Guerrero, SF

One is a problem, two a mistake, five a major ops screw up. Waymo has never fixed their cascading failure problem. Maybe they don't know how.

Fundamentally unfit for service at scale until they do, IMO.

Many children will end up dying via suicide because the New York Times and Atlantic wanted to burnish their reputation as "unbiased" by supporting the far-right on Trans issues.
The extreme attack on transgender youth we are witnessing from a governmental stage was enabled by The Atlantic and The New York Times.
