It's especially infuriating when you consider that nearly half of American adults fly less than once a year and roughly 15% have never even been on a plane.

Fuck yes. That is the democratic socialism I believe in.

This is my precinct, where easily 95% of the population lives in brand-new market rate apartment buildings, i.e. “luxury housing.”

Two years ago I interviewed a 31-year-old NY state assemblymember about a 7-year-old girl killed by an SUV driver in his district. I hung up the phone, astonished that I'd talked to a legislator who so thoughtfully articulated what actually needs to change on our streets.

it's utterly wild how the Heritage Foundation president talks about other people
if you found a guy talking like this outside, you'd probably call the cops

Some neighborhoods, like the Upper East Side, not only contribute zero new affordable units, but also have fewer existing units than they did in 2010 due to the rich converting multifamily units into a single mansion unit.
This new map based on @theNYHC data makes it clear: it’s too easy to block affordable housing in wide swaths of the city.
If you agree every neighborhood needs to do its part in solving our citywide housing crisis, vote YES on Props 2-5.

It should probably be a bigger news story that Adrienne Adams (the city council speaker) is illegally taking our taxpayer $ and corruptly using it to run a NIMBY propaganda campaign against pro-housing ballot measures
@council.nyc.gov is blatantly violating the City Charter's prohibition on using government resources for electioneering with their mailers and social media posts opposing pro-housing measures 2-4. Chapter 49, §1136.1: there is no ambiguity about how illegal this is. www.nyccfb.info/law/charter/...

This project was going to replace a parking lot filled with abandoned vehicles, in an industrial zone. If we can't build renewable infrastructure there, then where?
BREAKING from @jael.bsky.social: New York's largest battery project has been canceled.
Swiftsure, a planned 650-megawatt development on Staten Island, was quietly sunset in August, after facing opposition from, among others, Republican NYC mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa.

LA is building a new $1.5 billion freeway into LAX.
The very same airport where we just spent $2 billion on the people mover — actually, more like $3 billion, plus another $900 million if you count Metro's investment in the LAX station; so let's just say $4 billion — to make cars go away
