Still higher than California’s 2% cap 😭

My 3-person household diligently put all food waste and eligible items into the green bin and I don’t think we ever made it over 1/8 full.

I think this is true in some cases, but it's pretty exclusive to white dudes.

I also recall *a lot* of parking garages in downtown SLO

It is not at all uncommon where I'm from in the midwest to have never been on an airplane. Working class families drive to The Lake for vacations, rarely going further than one state away.

The American middle/upper middle class traded community for McMansion subdivisions.

Yeah I’ve been trying to articulate this. People’s lives in the mid-century were “richer” due to the abundance of social and civic organizations and the high participation in such, not due to material wealth which was obviously lower. Robert Putnam right again.

I’m not totally convinced of that tbh, but either scenario presents him as a remarkably poor leader.
November 10, 2025 at 2:09 PM
Sure but it’s his job to convince them, even if they’re idiots.
November 10, 2025 at 2:07 PM
The fact that they say Schumer failed to convince them of the strategy’s viability seems pretty key.

Except the one that’s on Brand Blvd in downtown Glendale

My sister was recently in a bidding war for a house in Lansing, where homes are selling in an average of 18 days.

Is most of the country moving in a different direction, or just parts of the sun belt? Seems like the midwest and northeast markets are thriving.
November 7, 2025 at 3:19 PM
The opposite situation is going on in LA. Redfin says homes are sitting for an average of 61 days vs. 50 days last year, selling for 2% under listing price, and 22% of homes have dropped the list price.

Listen to Mamdani last night.

"We will prove that there is no problem too large for government to solve and no concern too small for it to care about."

Fuck yes. That is the democratic socialism I believe in.

Notable that Hakeem Jeffries' own neighborhood is 3rd on that list for Mamdani.

We (Open NY) just hired organizers for Hudson Valley and Westchester County.

Correct, but I would add people with expensive educations who work in the service industry--a sizable piece of the electorate in the Commie Corridor.

@emoscientist.bsky.social this article really vindicated your posts re: the importance of social organizations for local civic engagement.
