If the admin's strategic goal was to break public resistance to immigration enforcement activities, it was a tactical mistake to go to the Twin Cities.

Congress passed the Taft-Hartley Act in 1947 (over Truman's veto) to make general strikes so incredibly difficult to organize that there hasn't been one since.

That there is a general strike happening in a major US city on such short notice is nothing short of a miracle.
National media should really be covering the fact thay every major school, museum, and arts institution in the Twin Cities, and hundreds of local businesses are closed tomorrow to protest federal occupation.

Nothing like this at this scale has happened anywhere in America anytime in living memory.

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

Our city has been over-run by Nazi ghouls kidnapping people to traffic them to concentration camps and other countries.
Did you ever think you'd see the day when masked gunmen jump out of moving vehicles and chase families down the street in your own neighborhood?
FUCK ICE forever and ever.

The most disturbing new trend in ICE behavior is agents escorting legal observers who are out patrolling our neighborhoods to their home, stopping, exiting the vehicle and pointing at their house. The message they're sending is pretty clear.

Meanwhile its 16th largest metropolitan area is occupied by unaccountable armed masked paramilitaries who are disappearing neighbors as part of a federal government-led ethnic cleansing campaign that has ground all social and economic life almost to a complete halt.
We are watching one of the wildest things a nation-state has ever done: A superpower is committing suicide because the GOP Congress is too cowardly to stand up to the Mad King.

This is one of the wildest moments in all of geopolitics ever.

I’m not sure people outside the Twin Cites realize the prevalence and the fear ICE is causing in Twin Cities. They are dining undercover pretending to be couples at restaurants, they are going to businesses and checking the license plates of cars to find employees. Every public place is compromised.

Obviously Denmark is part of a broader military coalition pledged to defend them in case of attack. I would have thought a guy who sold his house to go live on a military base because he was scared of his neighbors would get this.

Unfortunately, this is the part where I remind people that Black 10th graders get beat up by cops every day.

This is the part where I remind people about modern civil asset forfeiture, where US police steal more value from people (mostly Black) than every form of theft other than wage theft.
It is in no way “law enforcement” to beat up an American 10th grader and steal and sell his possessions.
This is 10th-grader Arnoldo Bazan.

A citizen.

Immigration agents grabbed him and put him in a chokehold.

"We're from the United States bro!' he screamed.

Agents took and sold his phone

And when he finally got home hours later, his shirt was ripped, he neck had angry, red welts, and he sobbed.

Chasing an ICE officer across icy terrain to try to scan the QR code he's trying to cover with his hand while he runs so I know who is staking out my local preschool, taunting the parents, and kidnapping the teachers.
I am introducing the Quick Recognition (QR) Act, which requires ICE and CBP officers to wear uniforms featuring QR codes. When scanned, the code would generate a digital ID displaying the officer’s name, badge number, and law enforcement agency.

ICE should be unmasked both physically and digitally.
