I think there's a missing third question: do chronic pain patients receive more or better non-medical support in other countries?

Painkillers are well and good, but if keeping your insurance means persisting in the job that caused your chronic pain, maybe that's a problem

Is it worse to be a billionaire or the kind of schmuck who lies about being a billionaire?

The man Trump named Mideast advisor has been touted as a billionaire behind a business called Boulos Enterprises, flagged in media previous reports including FT, WSJ, Economist and, yes, NYT.

Turns out that was wrong. Not his company; he never corrected the record

This book is an amazing read! Everyone should educate themselves on labor history. Remember, whatever is ahead of us can be conquered if we listen to those who fought before.
if you’re buying stuff today and want to know more about the massive impact that marginalized workers have had on the evolution of workers’ rights, labor unions, and how we got to this moment, might I suggest my book? It’s on sale at this union shop! www.powells.com/book/fight-l...

this is about 24 hours out of date now but it’s good work and if you are under the impression that House Dems are staying silent about the Mace/Johnson bathroom situation, perhaps because people keep lying to you about it, you should take a look.
This is a list of statements by House Democrats defending Sarah McBride.

It does not include statements of support that make no mention of the transphobic attacks against her, or statements about transphobia that are not directly relevant. It also does not include retweets/reposts.

Also a very old argument: that feminism used to be righteous/useful... "before" (before it "went too far"). This came up in the 80s-90s from folks who attacked feminism in 70s). Also see: "feminism is important, but not AS impt as XYZ; don't distract from XYZ, we'll deal w/women's right later."
Thank god somebody wrote this. That Richard Reeves book suggesting that men are moving right because women are criticizing sexism is toxic and too many people who should know better keep citing it. www.nytimes.com/2024/11/20/o...

This isn't a culture war. This is the only trans congresswoman, ever being bullied through the press and legislation, and having only 1 of hundreds of colleagues stand up for her. They can do more than 1 thing at a time. Defending her will not take so much effort that they can't do their jobs.
Defending Sarah McBride is absolutely the right thing to do, and yet there’s also the risk of being baited into yet another culture war cycle that distracts from the Republican grift. Her statement suggests she wants to move forward, and I think it’s wise to take the cue from her.

One of the most annoying responses to the first term was people calling everything a distraction. Just because one of his actions seems clownish or evil or impossible or stupid doesn’t make it a distraction—it’s part of the whole badly planned mess, that’s all.

If your kid's school is doing a Canned Food Drive or a movie theater is doing a special movie screening with a can of food in lieu of admission: give a can.

Otherwise: JUST GIVE MONEY.
