Genuinely hilarious that the only way we’re going to get actual functional YIMBY housing policy in our large cities is through Red Plenty Socialists and not the Abundance guys lol
at this point, Los Angeles is the most NIMBY city in the country.

I am not a socialist myself, but give me a socialist YIMBY like Zohran or Katie Wilson over a liberal NIMBY like Karen Bass any day of the week.
After failing to stop a major state housing bill from becoming law, Los Angeles leaders are turning to plan B: Delaying Senate Bill 79's implementation and pushing for unspecified legislative changes next year. My dispatch for @politico.com Pro subscribers subscriber.politicopro.com/article/2025...

True, as Pew and our UMD polls have shown. But it's bigger than that, including the shift among young Republicans. If one sets aside Fox News, whose viewers have much more favorable views of Israel, there is no difference between the views of those getting their news from social media and the rest.

There is no valid reason for armed soldiers to terrorize children like this. End Trump’s occupation of DC. National Guard out NOW.

Probably two things:
1. The authoritarianism that runs through the birth-rate discourse is inconsistent with limiting bosses' control over workers; and
2. A lot of the birth-rate worriers want mothers to quit their jobs, rather than balance work and parenthood

This piece by @adambonica.bsky.social is a crucial read. The @nytimes.com editorial board leans into their priors in their own recent editorial on the need for moderation to win. As @adambonica.bsky.social suggests the story is more complicated. 1/ data4democracy.substack.com/p/the-new-yo...
The New York Times Argues “Moving to the Center Is the Way to Win.” But the Data Shows the Strategy Is Tapped Out.
Democrats already run moderates in nearly every swing district. It's not enough. A data-driven response to the case for centrism as a core electoral strategy.

The @nytimes.com decided last year what the story was; Trump II was the righteous punishment visited upon their interns and junior staffers and grandchildren for being so annoying about MeToo and BLM, and once they understood that and repented, they could have democracy back.
Just insane thing for a NYT editor to say publicly:
