If the Republican resolution passes and repeals the D.C. tax law, city officials say tax-filing season could be thrown into chaos as tax forms and guidance have to be updated, and tax preparers have to catch up on the sudden changes. As of last week, 18,000 residents had filed.

Sen. Rick Scott's healthcare company pleaded guilty to 14 felony charges and agreed to pay $600 million for allegedly defrauding the government. He's now bringing that financial acumen to try to gut funding for family services in DC.

Last year, congressional republicans barred DC from utilizing nearly $1 billion of its own revenue and attempting to block another.
