Do Americans want safe food?

Which Departments are responsible for food safety?

USDA
HHS -> FDA and CDC
Commerce -> NOAA (fisheries)

If one Department is disabled, we don’t have safe food

In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

I’m a federal employee who was furloughed and just missed my second full paycheck. I have two young kids, so it’s tough.

It’s hard but DAMN worth it. Hold the line.

Capitulating now puts all that folks have sacrificed to this point in the trash bin.

I do hope that everyone is OK with democrats being different in different places because, as internet-brained as I am, I’m also a Montanan and Democrats used to win big races here, and I would like them to again.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

More affordable career pathways are a good thing, but this seems like papering over a much larger problem related to rising college costs and stagnating teacher pay, ensuring first year teachers will be even *less* experienced. Why not pay student teachers for practicum time, for starters?

Non-red/blue question. How can we keep our kids in Iowa? They’re not liking the huge cuts to public schools, poor water quality, high cancer rates, lack of OB doctors in Iowa, and the worsening economy.
Not redder or bluer, but better and truer.

Iowa doesn't have enough OB-GYNs. Is the state's abortion ban part of the problem?
Iowa ranks last among states for the number of OB-GYNS per capita. State legislators are trying to recruit more, but some doctors say the state's strict abortion ban is partially to blame.
