This 100% and that it's clear that cis-normative society's priority is and always has been ensuring that as many people are and remain cis as possible. If any other medical care had the miniscule regret rate that trans care has it would be a no-brainer. Cis people are just so uncomfy with us ...
Almost all of the surgical interventions in gender affirming care are necessary because a trans person was unable to access non-surgical care in adolescence. That’s why banning care for youth is such a particularly cruel punishment - and so counterproductive if you claim to prioritize safety.

Especially when cis people spend like no time thinking about trans issues at all. The number of times I've seen the language of "it's a distraction" boils my blood. Cis people look at me like I'm losing my mind when I pivot political talk to focus on trans issues, but the attacks are getting worse
Cis people really have no idea how it feels to watch a regime hold a press conference to admit, on camera, the pogrom against trans people they've been waging for 11 months is not only real, but they're going to double down on genocide and try to wipe out all the children first.

The fact of the matter is that bad actors have exploited cis people's disgust and reticence when it comes to viewing trans existence as just as worth of dignity, respect, and support. So even when we're trying to talk about a blatant attack on our rights, people turn up with conspiracy theories.

There's a kind of "support" cis people will give trans people (and queer people more generally) that amounts to: "It's well and good for you people to be the way you are, but not MY kid. My kid is normal and if my kid ever the idea of being anything but normal, it's YOUR fault."
