Canada Post “lost” 1 billion dollars last year?
How about, “it cost Canadians 1 billion dollars to have a national postal service” which works out to costing about $25 a year per person (population of Canada in 2024 = 40 million). Seems like a pretty reasonable cost to me.

obviously people deserve blame for being antisemitic but it is a world-historical catastrophe that almost every institution nominally dedicated to fighting antisemitism has decided to burn their credibility for the short term interests of the Netanuahu government
a very bleak development in terms of my view of the world in the last few years has been both ‘the Israeli govt is much worse than I thought and deserves an enormous amount of criticism’ and ‘yeah a lot of people geniunely are just low-grade antisemitic’ both apparently being true.

The atrocities the Israeli gov is committing in Gaza have created an audience for US politicians denouncing it. If orgs like the ADL were not so shortsighted, they would prefer that role to be filled by someone like Mamdani, who speaks out against antisemitism, than someone like MTG, who does not.
