Better yet, disestablish all of DHS, and undo the nightmarish idiocies that we created in a panic 25 years ago. Reestablish the INS, get rid of ODNI, fix the damage from the Patriot Act, etc.

I loved this. And I want to note the whole “there were no autistic people before …” discourse has an answer here: just the people were sent away in the incarceration (yes “care homes” like this), and if they fled, they were just abandoned by society, usually to die.

The saga of the NYT's anti-Mamdani story taken from notorious white supremacist Jordan Lasker (they call him an "academic") gets even more amazing: Lasker's only impactful paper, which claimed white people are smarter, is infamous: it misused data so badly it got his tenured co-author fired. 2/

it’s absurd that NYT forced him to delete these skeets, which … convey the factual information that Zohran Mamdani is, in fact, a man of South Asian descent who was born and raised in Africa, and that the pseudonymous source of the hacked material is a white supremacist eugenicist.

Can Trump just order new names for Denali and the Gulf of Mexico? A geographer explains who decides what goes on the map
How do place names get made and then changed? There’s a process. But it involves people as well as bureaucracy, so it’s not simple or quick, as President Trump is about to find out.

I remain convinced that if you resort to convenient bigotry to win votes, the people whose votes you gained will eventually vote for a more sincere bigot, while the people you abandoned will never trust you again.
These are the people telling the Democrats that abandoning trans rights is the way to win over voters.

Has joining the anti-trans UK consensus done them any good? Hmm, it really doesn't seem like voters give politicians a reward for anti-trans policies.
"Labour’s support from voters “has fallen away sharply” with a more rapid decline in its popularity than has ever been seen for a new government – after the party came to power with a smaller proportion of the vote than any previous majority government."
