This is one part of what it looks like when the government has been taken over by a fascist movement that's trying to push out its reactionary vision of national rebirth—women & racial minorities purged from positions of authority & re-subordinated, etc—through all cultural & professional spaces
Because it’s not just Bari Weiss’ CBS asking this question—in the last few months, I’ve been approached by half a dozen different shows looking to ‘debate’ the same topic.

I even got a request from NPR-distributed “Open to Debate” to see if I’d weigh in on “Has Feminism Hurt Women?”

nothing condemns Our Times more than the fact we appear to have *mostly democratically* elevated to power some of the most stupid assholes who have ever lived.

something is wrong with a country and system that ferrets out its most undisputedly horrible citizens and then gives them nuclear codes

There are issues with this study that I'm too tired to get into, but when you look at the broad sweep of data around cheese... it's pretty neutral. As in cheese doesn't seem to be bad for us.
"A new study has found that eating 50g or more of high-fat cheese a day correlates with a lower risk of developing dementia. That means all cheeses with more than 20 percent fat content, including brie, gouda, cheddar, parmesan, gruyere, and mozzarella." www.sciencealert.com/cheese-linke...

Yes, but it’s not a “nuclear option.” It’s the most basic, obvious, conventional option available if you want to actually do something effective. The fact that they’re not immediately promising it en masse tells us something, and that something is not good.
WATCH-- Former AG Eric Holder says Congress should consider impeachment for the DOJ officials responsible for holding back the Epstein files: “That's a nuclear option that Congress has.”

It’s genuinely disheartening if you work in politics at any level to realize big picture-wise the only realistic plan forward is “waiting for people with the best healthcare known to man to die”
One thing I don't think people appreciate is that the political apparatus is so old that dozens of congress people and senators have weekly doctors visits and require non stop care just to stay alive and it 100% limits the potential for political action through the legislature.

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

First-of-a-kind study shows encouraging data for trans kids who socially transition
Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

I feel like that makes it worse, bc it underscores that it's not just (using just loosely) RFK Jr randomly being a conspiracy addled eugenicist wackjob -- this catastrophe was coordinated and had the backing of the conservative legal movement
It is utterly catastrophic that RFK Jr. plans to end CDC recommendations for most childhood vaccines.

It’s a betrayal of science, ethics, compassion, and the people of the United States.

And it was also a specific goal of Project 2025 (page 254).

This is my cyclical reminder that there's really only one consistently reliable source of info in the public record that isn't owned by right wing billionaires, who really want to put an end to it.

Please give at least the $2.75 minimum they request if you can.

Does it not seem weird to people that centrist parties all over the world are decimating themselves by trying to poach rightwing voters they will never get? I'm convinced they're all losing elections on purpose.
Extraordinary polling from Wales predicting the near decimation of Labour at the Senedd elections.

The winners though wouldn’t be Reform but Plaid Cymru, who on sheer arithmetic alone could potentially put together a progressive coalition to govern Wales.

From my own niche: institutions of higher education should stop chasing trends, work internally to assert a set of values, and then build curriculum around those values.
just a collection of "inevitable" multi-billion dollar tech that was going to be the future of everything until everyone in the audience who was supposed to just get on board said "lol no"

Any positivity that RFK Jr.’s inconsistent politics could have brought is DOA. At least the chaste teetotalers of the late 19th century gave us cereal, graham crackers, and votes for women. Here we‘ve got nothing.

Artificial dyes out of our food won’t matter if we’ve got formaldehyde in the air.

It is international law 101 that a military blockade is not just a violation of the UN Charter, but a crime of aggression.

Unless that blockade is in response to an 'armed attack.'

None of President's Trump's list of complaints come close to an armed attack.
