Especially since a huge percentage of American crops are bought and paid for by the government.

Guess where the huge majority of the taxes that go toward buying those crops come from?

That’s right: Blue states.
Also this guy suggesting that food is “shared” with other states (or countries) out of goodwill, as opposed to for pay:

Good luck eating your way through an exploding silo of soybeans.

California alone produces a third of all the food America eats. So this is a lie.

But let’s break down the food produced by the red states:

Guess what percent is harvested by people from Latin America?

Update: this is no longer included in the final funding deal. I'm going to keep fighting to lower premiums and ensure Republicans can’t get away with a backdoor national abortion ban.
Senate update: Republicans are now trying to sneak a backdoor national abortion ban into their government funding bill. Republicans will stop at nothing to control women's health care decisions.

The authors find that the entirety of reduced spending — because HDHPs *do* reduce spending — came entirely from people seeking less care.

They weren't adept at distinguishing "high" and "low" value care; they scaled back all forms of care.

I agree with this take that the GOP is not going to be able to figure out a good solution and what we get is going to suck.

BUT, it is interesting that Johnson is saying that its now top priority. There does seem to be acceptance that something needs to be done here even amongst the GOP.
So, we're fucked.
VAN SUSTEREN: Is the Republican healthcare solution going to go into effect at midnight on Dec. 31? Because people are gonna get sticker shock

MIKE JOHNSON: We have November and December to work on it

all my core arguments in one case:

1. the modern far right has international ambitions

2. concessions don't pacify the far right, they embolden it

3. you can't be neutral (as the bbc tried to be)

4. they attack where resistance is weakest

5. right now, that's the uk
I’ve written to Keir Starmer, Kemi Badenoch and Nigel Farage urging them to condemn Donald Trump’s attack on the BBC.

The BBC belongs to Britain, not Trump. We must defend it together.

I am not happy with this Senate bullshit, but I am seeing “both parties are the saaaaaame” shit on more normal social media.

Too many supposedly left-of-center people don’t actually hate the Republican Party and it shows.

Hoyer is notable because his desire for certain territory in his district helped prevent an 8-0 map with a third Black district in prior remaps (especially in 2012).

If Axios' recent report that he's likely to retire is accurate, it would make an 8-0 map with increased Black representation easier
Steny Hoyer & Jamie Raskin send letter to MD Senate President Bill Ferguson, who has opposed mid-decade redistricting, saying that he should move forward with a new map:

"We believe such an effort can survive any legal attack"
Exclusive: Hoyer, Raskin pressure Ferguson to join national redistricting fight
Reps. Steny Hoyer and Jamie Raskin are sending a letter Monday to the state’s General Assembly, applying pressure on Senate President Bill Ferguson.
