Not only is the current Labour government substantively to the right of the Democratic Party on immigration, refugees, and foreign policy, but it's also to the right of Bill Kristol and the Bulwark neocons on those issues! And yet the left continues to yammer on like this because of the NHS.
"dems would be center right in uk/eu" staggers on, zombie like, immune to evidence

the uk tories just proposed deporting 4-7% of the uk's population - self-partition- they are, in fact, to the right of adam schiff

My most "conservative coded"/moralistic opinion, if we're doing that, is this is the actual corruption cycle of society.

Not love of pleasure, luxury, or difference. The corrupt flaunt the appearance of success, then tell people "don't be a sucker, corruption is cool & sexy, virtue is for rubes."
i've said this a number of time and in a number of ways but being good and honest in these times makes me feel like a sucker

Huh. It's almost like when institutions stand up to that spineless coward fascist, he loses and folds. I sure wish more institutions would take note of that.
BREAKING: Seattle Children's Hospital successfully fought this summer to get DOJ's invasive trans care subpoena quashed.

The Seattle court partially unsealed the case this week.

This was the fourth, previously sealed case mentioned in this recent Law Dork report: www.lawdork.com/p/judges-doj...

Please. Mowing people down with a car is not a protected civil liberty. Automated traffic enforcement and ignition interlock devices are beneficial *and* progressive because the alternatives are random cop discretion and/or jail.
I think it was a huge mistake to make our society so car-dependent. But man. The Discourse today is a good reminder that when it comes to roadways policy, otherwise progressive anti-car people quickly become some of the most pro-carceral, anti-civil liberties people on the planet.

There does not exist a hot dog suit big enough nor a face eating leopard ferocious enough to serve as an adequate metaphor for Chris Rufo complaining about right wing media becoming conspiracy addled click bait
Chris Rufo literally was a core figure in boosting a lie that Haitian immigrants in an Ohio town ate pets. He offered a bounty for “information” after the lie was repeatedly debunked.

Spare us the navel-gazing nonsense.

If you want people to stop being so mean about tech, have you tried not crying like a baby about it and taking it on the chin given that most people actually do have a good reason to hate what is happening even when their model of its machinations and integration into the macroeconomy is inaccurate

This is misleading clickbait, here's what Wilson actually said:

"I'm going to work with immigrant rights groups and civil rights advocates to evaluate whether Seattle should also scale back or disable the surveillance expansion that was authorized by the outgoing mayor and council"

I'm developing a kind of cosmopolitan-chauvinism, I guess you could call it anti-feudalism, as a through line in my politics. The peasant-brained and the local landed gentry are the enemy. Sort of funny that this could describe being either rabidly capitalist or communist.

I'm a huge fan of Liberal Currents. The writers there offer an ideal combination of an intellectual defense of liberal values with a clear-eyed view of the challenges of the current political moment.
Today we are launching what we hope will be a transformative fundraising push.

We are determined to increase our reach so we can compete with voices who are less than fully committed to, or who outright oppose, liberal values.

Help us do it: www.gofundme.com/f/the-libera...
