Except it doesn't actually do any of those things.
Wow, a comment on HN I actually agree with!

It's actually quite simple: resentment. Art has cachet that being a le epic cracked """coding""" braingenius doesn't.
The level of hatred these AI bros have for creative people I just do not understand

Sorry but "being taught to be men" has no content besides that.
A few years ago someone told to me that men aren’t taught to be men, they’re just taught to be terrified of being thought womanly, and that this demonization of “things women are or do” is just blunt misogyny, which is also behind homophobia and transphobia, and they were 100% right.

nope. anthropic made a dataset including fake emails implying a nonexistent engineer was having an affair and the chatbot emitted words related to words from those fake emails implying a fictitious affair. then a bunch of dipshit frauds at anthropic made the home alone face and ran around the house.
An Amazon-backed AI model tried to blackmail engineers who threatened to shut it down, a safety report revealed

In tests, Anthropic's Claude Opus 4 would resort to "extremely harmful actions" to preserve its own existence

Not even joking this is the religion of the antichrist
“If God manifested himself as a human in the form of Jesus Christ, then why not as a posthuman in the form of superintelligent AI?”

It's happening: Christianity and TESCREALism are merging in the MAGA movement -- or so I argue in my new article for

Probably the weirdest corporate acquisition announcement I've ever seen

They are fake trash and an existential threat to the continued existence of literate society (or maybe society at all). They are that dangerous precisely because they are fake trash
It’s frustrating that LLMs are, by a mile, the most transformative consumer technology to emerge in living memory, and the modal opinion on this website is “fake trash, lmao, bubble’s gonna burst, fuck you for even talking about it.”

Take it seriously. You’ll have to for the rest of your life.

It’s perfectly possible that large language models have wonderful use cases, but specific examples of them seem unusually elusive, whereas unbuttressed assertions that the use cases are clear or obvious from people who refuse to answer any follow up questions are rather thick on the ground.
people are getting mad at Hank about this but he’s just objectively correct here; there’s this pseudo-Luddite thing going on where folks insist that LLMs do not have any use cases despite that clearly not being true, particularly with how cheap they are to operate (you can run deepseek on a raspi)
There are a lot of critiques of LLMs that I agree with but "they suck and aren't useful" doesn't really hold water.

I understand people not using them because of social, economic, and environmental concerns. And I also understand people using them because they can be very useful.

Thoughts?

No

Here's your "AI literacy": it's worthless garbage, don't use it, read a book
I just think the term "AI literacy" is cooked when it's being used by tech bros and their government surrogates alike.

Hmm. That’s kind of odd.
At Mar-a-Lago, a bizarre, golden-hoofed goat idol is on display.

The idol is wrapped in Trump $100 bills that say, “In Trump we Trust,” replacing God with Trump.

The idols’ base says, “I love you” along with Trump’s signature.

we should probably teach kids to code more just to demystify this shit. like it’s not easy, but it’s very learnable. letting people think Being Good At Computer makes you a genius polymath has been such a disaster.
Their response to "he's violating the Constitution" is really "but bro is so sick at coding."

US rule of law in shambles. Tech ideology is really that kind of caricature of itself.
