The day I put together how QAM worked in Wi-Fi, and what it meant for data rates, was the day that convinced me that Wi-Fi is akin to messing with an elder god's rituals.
None of this shit should work at all, but it does, and that feels like a devil's bargain was struck.

I also just find myself itching at how much of the AI art 'aesthetic' was built on trawling uncompensated artists' works in order to regurgitate them, and that's like..not a slight on the concept or utility, but on the unscrupulous assholes building the foundations of those tools the way they did

this is a bluesky bubble opinion. 800M+ people use chatgpt every week. I hate Facebook and Instagram and I wish they didn’t exist, but 3B and 2B people use them every month, respectively. it’s very hard to picture a mass or even a niche left backlash against them
i think tech and ai positive people are going to be in for a big shock when anti tech and anti ai sentiment becomes a major part of leftwing politics going forward especially as datacenters continue to destroy communities and raise electricity bills

To be clear: I absolutely support abolishing the current policing structure, and replacing it with something else. But there does have to be a "something else" that deals with people whoj want to, for example, do violence against other people. No, "the community will fix it" doesn't appy,
