As someone who came back from brink, I have a lot of thoughts on doomerism and its easy mental pathways of a quick salve where you assert knowing the world through the lens of despair and always find yourself proven correct.

It's cheap and stupid and it's not actual insight to produce anything.

Y'know what? While I'm talking about games, I'm gonna recommend one: "Town to City."

Very chill, low-demand city-builder where you make a village from nothing, so detailed you'll be placing individual flowers. Chunky voxel graphics, great vibe, FREE demo.

Richard Harvey composed the soundtrack to this video and if you want some serious, heavy Neuron Activation you can watch this, in which he talks about his process.

Whenever people say “where was this Pamela Anderson 20 years ago?!”

I respond with, she was always there…you just were taught to not give her a chance.

perfect 1:1 overlap between bosses who want their employees to be miserable sleep-in-the-office grinders and bosses who include working out with their personal trainer for an hour as part of their "16 hour workday" bsky.app/profile/coyo...
They hate seeing people happy while working, they think they should all also be miserable and doing drugs to survive.

i genuinely think it was this specific genre of video that broke silicon valley's VC guys' brains, and 3 years later we're like tearing down the US Forestry Service because they think it's full of brunch-eating do-nothing-email-job remote workers

It's cool and great (no it's actually horrifying) seeing people develop the logic behind Stalinist purges or Cultural Revolution for themselves in real time.

...but do people not understand how much of the damn internet is hosted on Amazon servers? That sometimes you are yelling at someone for using an Amazon product ON a site hosted by Amazon?

I will never tell someone boycotting is bad. But you're likely doing a very imperfect job of it, too.

My 2yo learned about moonlight at daycare. Day before it was stars. Surely we can all agree we’d like to be learning about space in the most fun, cool ways like she is. She’s learning amazing stuff I’m too exhausted to even remember I know let alone teach her

worth saying again these these unilateral cuts are illegal. neither trump nor musk has the authority to unilaterally slash appropriated funds.
Hearing that the DOGE chaos hurricane is hitting HUD soon, and the plan is to devastate federal housing funding. Let's be clear: this would cause a cascade of catastrophic impacts nationwide, shutting down housing and dumping families into the street.

This profile has been scrubbed from the site. Rose Ferreira grew up without reliable electricity, immigrated to NY, then survived homelessness and cancer on her way to NASA. She was so moved by images from the Webb telescope she wept. This is what’s at stake

This side-by-side comparison shows a Hubble image
of the massive star cluster NGC 346 (left) versus a Webb image of the same cluster (right). While the Hubble image shows more nebulosity, the Webb image pierces through those clouds to reveal more of the cluster's structure.
